mac v pc

December 22, 2006 7:49am CST
hi everyone this seems like a cool site. my first discussion is mac v pc. i've had my mac for 8 months now and its far better than my old pc. reasons for this are - looks superb(imac 20 inch) brilliant software included ie. ilife which includes iweb, iphoto and idvd. no spyware no viruses. mac osx is far better than windows!!!! apple is becoming more popular as every month passes, if i can help a few more people on to them then i'll be happy. any comments or question feel free to post.

to me i prefer PC because to MAC is waaayyyy expensive for me! by the way MAC is hard to upgrade because you don't have much choices of part to install in it! i my self use a pc and I'm quite satisfied with it! anyways by next year windows vistar gonna be out soon so its much cooler tha windows xp but if u really want a virus free program u should use is Linux!

First of all, Macs have most everything you want to put in there already installed. Second, they use the same hard drives that PCs use, standard IDE, etc. A PCI slot is a PCI slot. Drivers are really the only issue on cards and most of that really isn't a problem. All new Macs come with built in firewire, USB, SVGA, ethernet, and stereo/audio in and out. DVD/CD and read/write drives come in all models now I believe. Most Macs have built in AirPort (wireless networking) capabilities. What specifically is it that you need or want that a Mac doesn't/can't have?

I'm not saying that MAC is all bad but the problem is you cant put the a graphic card in crossfire mod! second the graphic capability have its limit and it would be a problem to people like me that want to see the detail on the graphic because MAC have a bottle-necked video subsystem while windows allow a wide non-saturated video subsystem...I'm into the gaming so i notice that MAC are much slower than PC in gaming because of the clock speed ..

As for Linux, the problem there is there's not enough software. ;)

Wow, how much software do you need? Macs can run 99% of the PC software and the Mac software. I daresay PCs don't have enough software. :)

I am in college for game programming, all my fellow programmers prefer the mac over PC's. I would like to have one... never used their os though, would really like to check it out.

i think as time goes on more people will be switching to macs, as for the price if u compare a mac to a pc u will find for the spec you get with a mac a pc with the same spec will cost u more.if that makes sense

Both have their positive and negative sides. But i prefer a PC because software for PCs are easily available. Mac is more like a system for multimedia processing. I do agree that MaxOS is much better than windows, infact MacOS is the first to introduce GUI(Graphical User Interface). Considering the Price, PCs are much cheaper than Mac.

My new Mac Mini cost me about $500 and is a sharp little system. It runs most PC software and Mac software, too. Not a bad deal, huh?

PC's are "the norm" and therefore there's more software for them....theres an upside to both and downside to both, primarily in the way of software....Macs are easier to use, but less configurable than a PC....however, the new macs are running off intel processors so they are more and more capable of running like a pc. Macs are better for general computing, some editing with both video and audio, and have a proven track record of longevity....for example I know of a few imacs (old systems that came in multiple colors) that are still running today....those machines are ten years old, and other than upgrading the os, they really didn't need much to keep going. In the same time frame you could go through either enough parts or upgrades with a pc to have gone through at least 2 systems if not more. If you want something reliable, and user friendly, and thats going to last.....get a mac. If you are looking for something you can keep adding onto and tweak, as well as get into higher end graphics stuff.....go with the pc.

If I would be given a chance, of course I would choose mac over pc but it's very expensive. Mac's design is far better than pc's but I have no choice for now. I'm using pc with windows equiped with anti-viruses and anti-spyware so I'm contented with it and it's practical to have.

I agree. Mac is way better then PC's. I build my own pc's, but macs I cant build. lol Macs dont get all the viruses that pc's get, but then again not many software and games are allowed on macs now.. That might be why I am sticking with pcs. lol

Macs are way better as far as anything other than being slow and annoying goes. I love my mac, and I use a pc when I have to, but am far better at the mac, for it is the most fun, most productive os yet, and easiest to learn os. Now Leopard takes the cake for the coolest OS around!

the thing is about making the switch..people who have spent thier life using windows would not like to switch to a new OS just for the sake of simple reason they would not find it more comfortable..ofcourse with time the familiarity would increase but with time even the Windows would improve..so its just a matter of preference and like everything else..both Windows and Macintosh have some advantages and disadvantages..

Alright macs are expensive, you can't play pc games with it most games are developed for windows and the hardware is expensive too.Yes.There is no virus but getting a pc + a anti virus software will probably alot less expensive than a mac.I will probably use mac because of it's garage band. But for work,pc wins.

I think mac is really cool in terms of the features and design. But I am still using a Fujitsu. Might switch to mac in the future. My brother has 3 of them already, he's addicted.
