I had been maintaining a long-distance relationship for almost nine years now. Before we got married, my husband was already a seaman and we only see each other once a year. That was tough. We wrote each other letters and when cellphones came to exist, he called me once every two months. There were so many hard times for our relationship. When he came back to our country after almost two years, he seemed a stranger to me. Then he won't even care to ask me out. He wouldn't even pay me a visit. All those years that he was away I kept clinging to our relationship, hoping that one day he would come back and things will be the same between us. But, it didn't. It was impossible for the two of us to find time together because we live in different provinces - distant provinces. But he had a choice: he could take his upgrading course in the city where I was currently working so we could be together. But he didn't. He chose to live away from me. It hurt me, really. So I told him I think it's time for us to think things over and so I called our relationship off. But he refused and asked his sister to tell me to think things over before making that big decision. And so I accepted him again. Everything wasn't going fine. Not a word from him for almost two months. Then one day, I just received a text message from him telling me that he had sired another girl and that they are getting engaged. Just imagine how hurt I was. Then he called the next day, but he didn't talk to me. He let the girl talk to me. That hurt! Very much. And every time I try calling him so we could talk, he would not answer. Instead, the girl would talk to me and tell me my boyfriend doesn't want to talk to me. Anyway, to make my story short, the two of them never got married. He came back to me one day and married me and now we have a son. How I got him back and why he did not marry the other girl is another story. Today, we still have a long-distance relationship, as husband and wife. He comes home to us after every six months after his contract and spends every possible time he has to make us feel he wants our company, too.

Yes I do. I'm actually involved in a long distance relationship and it works very very good. I've met a good girl who likes me and who loves me. She gives me all the respect and all I need from a girl. So.. I sed my opinion. I forgot to say that it works since 2 years ago.

my husband and i basically had a long distance relationship when we meet 15 yrs ago, he was an over the road truck driver and we he didnt have a cell phone but we still talked on the phone for hours every day. He is still gone 4-5 days per wk now and we talk on the cell phone about 10-15 times per day (thank goodness for free mobile to mobile) so I believe it is possible if you really want it. My husband and I didnt see each other for 6 wks before the wedding, and he got home 2 days before the wedding. So that was stressful.

The longest i hold on to a long distance relationship was 2 months. After that, it was do or die so i had to see her to keep the sparks going for another 2 years, then the break up.
