Yes I have. I usually try to find a safe place to stop. Bad me, I ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere last week. On my way to pick up hubby. It was close enough to home that I felt comfortable accepting help from a stranger, but I would not when travelling. Once I fell asleep with my eyes open, driving through OKC , I remember being two exits away from mine, and then realizing that I was about five past it. I must have been in God's hands that night.

You truly were in God's hands. I remember once I was working in a place about 750 miles from where I lived, I was staying with my brother. That particular day was going to be my last day working there, so at the end of the day, I packed up my stuff and left to drive those 750 miles to get back home. I drove all night and when dawn broke, I was driving down the secluded highway, when I suddenly Slammed on the brakes. I kept looking at the highway because I had Definitely seen that there was NO MORE highway ahead.
There actually Was, but because of my fatigue and lack of sleep, that is what I saw.
Thanks

i dont know how to drive but i guess i can still give some comment on that since my husband knows how to drive one and been traveling together with him..when he was feeling sleepy he usually stops on a place where its not deserted or whatever...or more likely parked in a gasoline station..in response to your question..regarding middle of nowhere..of course he wont stop that if he could help it..i just try talking to him and made some jokes or even listen to music (fast beat of course)
