a friend if they are under 18. I don't even like friends under 25, but I do have a few. I have some up in their 60's....so what is your cut off, and do you believe everyones age in their profile. I am honest with mine. I hope everyone is honest with theirs.

Well said SSH.
It is a maturity level that one should look at. :)

I don't worry about ages, but I do go to the profile and check out some of the discussions to see what they post as discussions.

i dont really check on their profile, i will accept all friends request. however, if they kept on starting repetitive discussions and dont bother responding to other's discussions...i will delete them off from my profile. i believe that it should be 2 way for friendship

I do too, and I believe friends should also return the favor. for example if you answer their questions, they should answer yours. jmho. thanks for your response.

I have assumed that everyone is truthful about their posted age. It would not occur to me to lie, so why should they.(Naive). I do not use an age cutoff. Infact, I so far have not denied any friend request, although I have had one denied. I look at what they have posted so far so that I can see if I can have a discussion with them. I do not always agree with everything in their profile, or like all of their posts, but I do not have to. Why do you make age limits?

The reason is similiar to yours, content. If I can converse with them. It is also a trust issue, and since I am a nurse with a great career I really don't need any trouble with a 15 year old saying I said something to him on the internet. Besides that, I also have my two beautiful daughters I care about as well, and yet another reason. I had a really horrible 28 yr old cause my family hell last year. I am really picky as to whom I have discussions with. The first being age.

I do look at their age in the profiles but I also look at the discussions they have started and if I don't think I am 'compatible' with them I don't accept them more than their age. I don't have any under 18 though as my opinions are usually a lot different than theirs and I probably wouldn't answer many of their discussions anyway. I hope this doesn't offend anyone...

It is funny you ask this. Because I have been battleing with it myself. I used to not look at the age. But since being here a while, I have found that I do look more often. It is not because I want to discriminate. It is just that I have found I have a better connection to those that are older. Anwhere from mid twenties and beyond. But recently, I have also found some pretty interesting people that are a bit younger. So, to stop myself from discriminating against age, I will look at the person's discussion questions and responses to see what quality there is.
A person is able to be more mature beyond their years and I would not want to deny a friend that would give me a different point of view.
