Having a lot of money gives you power.

When a person has a lot of money, he is considered to be influential and powerful. Does the saying apply to these people that great power comes with great responsibility? Does having money comes with a greater responsibility or just having the spending and buying capability?

This is in general the mind set of all the people. But if u have more money then you cannot manage money, money will manage u. Ulitmately u loose humanity, love, affection and u will miss real love. Power meaning not only the money power, but also the power to love others and make others happy. If a person has more money and he is not happy, then he is not powerful, he is leading a terrible life. Money alone make one power ful, there are other things in the world which makes a man power ful. - If u have more money the normal saying - u can buy bed, but not sleep. - u can marry too many girls, but not a real wife. - u can buy more food, but cannot eat peafully.

I don't think money should create greater responsibility just having the spending and buying capability to me is enough. They should be responsible for themselves and none else.

Money comes with the power to do a lot of things. As they say great power or even wealth comes with great responsibilities. So I guess it does follow that when you have a lot of money you gain power and hence, one should be responsible with this power. Have a nice day!

I think that having money that brings power and influence SHOULD include the obligation of being more responsible, but I also dont believe that it necessarily happens this way. A lot of people come into money just because of the family they are born into. It doesn't mean they have any common sense or something. A lot of these people tend to just spend their money without doing anything very important or helpful to others.

Some people are really lucky to be born rich. Nonetheless, being born that way also comes with inheriting the power and influence of the family, even if they don't spend wisely nor help others, we cannot argue because it is their money and we could not tell them otherwise on how to spend it as we see fit. have a nice day!

Most people who hold the power also hold a lot of money. So I guess when you have a lot of money you can easily have power and influence. Have a nice day!

The responsibility in my opinion is, for example, if you were to win a huge lottery today, you would have the power to actually change lives. Would you choose to spend and buy or would you choose to donate to worthy causes or would you choose to help out one needy family.....this is how I interpret the Power. You would also be able to take the life of an impoverished child/teen headed in the wrong direction, give him/her an education and see how differently this would influence their life ~donna

To most people, having money in this unexpected and abrupt way could have a lot of reactions. As to most of the powerful and influential people who have a lot of money, they did not have their money that way so they have a different way of handling their money. Have a nice day!

Money represents 'I owe you' promises of goods and services between people. These 'I owe you' promises are guaranteed by the government and that's what makes them so valuable. The more of such promises you accumulate in your bank account, the more power you have to go to any commercial place and order goods and services to your liking in exchange for the money in your bank account. Money controls economic relationships between people. And the more money you have, the more power you have in such relationships. This is true power that makes a real difference in people's lives. And that's why so many people seek to gain more money. If money is false power, then why do religious people collect money in churches for God's work?

Me, with sister and friend - me together with my older sister and friend back in 97
My older sibling once told me that the more money you have the more expenses you have, the less money you have, the less expenses you have.

Yes. Money gives power but don't gives peace and love. Which is better, to be able to sleep day after day or to be rich but can't sleep? I get the first option!

This is not necessarily true at all times. I have met rich people who live comfortably at age 70 they sleep from 6-8hrs in a day. Some people who don't have money could not sleep at night because they are hungry or too busy thinking about their bills and other payables.

yeah having a lot of money will surely help a person to have influence and will be powerfull but not when people are united against him.he is powerfull to some extent. but he os not the supreme. he will be powerfull only till money is with him, god is supreme.

You have a point here but most usually, people with money do own large companies and they do dictate the prices and the rules within the company. People who work for him and under him must follow these rules. So I guess having money does give you a big edge. Thank you for responding to the discussion.

Your comment actually made me smile. The fact that you are rich and can make such a comment shows that you can almost say whatever you want to other people. It is a sign of authority and does merit having to be bossy. Have a nice day!

Having money gives you the power to be able to help those less fortunate but it does not neccessarily make you happy, just makes being miserable more comfortable. Having a lot of stuff and being able to spend money does not impress me, spending money in a way that helps the world does.

it depends on the person, I mean if they are rich and famous, yes they do have a greater responsibility as to how they act. I mean they are famous, alot of people look up to them, so they need to act as a good role model, but if they are just a person that was born into money or have won money in the lottery, i don't think they have a great responsiblity, except of themselves.

Naturally in society people with large sums of money are seen as more influential in certain areas. Personally I believe that those who are blessed with profound amounts of knowledge are the most influential. Because money does run out, as the parable says, Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for an eternity. Knowledge is the ultimate key to residual wealth and success

Yup having money gives you more power and thus you have greater responsibility if you have more money. One should use it properly and the well-being of other people. Thus it's true that with more money comes more power and comes a greater responsibility.
