starting dumb discussions won't earn you money

Hi, Just wanted to tell you that starting dumb discussions with one word answers don't earn you any money. Similarly, replying to such discussions or answering with single word replies won't earn you anything much. I started a lof of such discussions yesterday to see how it works and also replied to discussions with one word answers. It hasn't earned me anything. So users, always start serious discussions and reply only to discussions that interest you. Just thought of helping you guys/girls. If you think otherwise, please leave a comment. Thanks!

Well, don't start too many discussions. Start a few that interest you and take part in them. Take part in discussions started by others. Respond to comments with a few sentences. Just a 'thank you' for each replies won't count. Try it for a day and see the results yourself.

when you start a dissussion, try to think of something that will spark interest and encourage others to participate in. it could be current issue or hot item in the news. obviously nonsense will get you nonsense as well - you know what they say - "garbage in, garbage out" or you reap what you sow...etc. when you are writing out a comment, you will see on the left side of the comments box, it says "Please be as descriptive as possible". That's exactly it. One word answers obviously do not encourage other comments or discussions which is the whole point of having a forum.

I think accurately as it, therefore small discusões very are not valued here. I believe that best it is to answer well to try to explain its thoughts.

I think myLot algorithm automatically rejects discussions with most replies which are less than a sentence. That means the discussions started was not a good one. So even if you get 100 one word replies to a discussion which starts with "do you like x or y" for example won't count pay you.

I have found the same to be true. HOwever, I did notice that I replied to some discussions with shorter answers, a sentence or so, and didn't get paid for it yesterday. I think mylot should take into consideration that sometimes you don't need to write a book to answer a question. If you give a good answer on a good topic, it should definently count.

i totally agree with you as well, i was also thinking the same. The answers should be good and brief, it's not necessary that they should be long enough.

well, if it is just a one word reply, then be sure someone else would definitely reply to it and won't get paid. why would you want to waste your time in such discussions! participate in discussions where you can contribute more than a sentence. such discussions are not hard to come by.

It's not exactly hard to elaborate on an answer, even if you normally think that it would require just a short answer. Try it - put some effort into it. You'd be surprised how easy it is. Sometimes, the explanation of the answer can even add more to the discussion than you originally thought it would.

I have been here for close to 4 months if not longer so i've been aware of this. Mylot probably just increase the number of words you can type per response to get credit. When you start a topic it is also like a response you only get paid for the first response to it and that is it. The topic must exceed the number of words mylot has set though.

I see. But I think that the earning increases in case the discussion is lively and on serious topic and if the original poster takes part in it.

yah, I agree with you. I've read some post similar to this that starting a discussion with only one word responce won't earn you anything. They also said that discussion must contain aleast 75 word and response must have a minimum of 10 words. is it right?

yes that is true. Not necessarily 75 words, but the intent should be to discuss something seriously. Also duplicate discussions aren't entertained.

I agree, i get a bit cranky when i see someone has answered my discussion with a stupid answer that is obviously there for the sake of the cash, i still thank them for the reply, but sometimes tell them i am glad they won't get paid much for their dismal efffort!

Same here after only 4 days I find I am getting so irritated at nonsense. I had a person respond with a whole line of xxxx etc. with a couple of letters thrown in. What was the point of that...does the person think they will get paid for it...Good Lord I hope not. I find because of all the junk it makes it difficult to find real discussions to respond to and wastes my time looking at dumb responses that make no sense. I rate them with a - I don't know if it helps but I figure that's why it's there.

that is right and it should be that way only. i would suggest giving negative earnings for such stuff as they would make this community less interesting.

that is what mylot has been saying all along. i think that it is good that you learned this, although i think that some people must find a way around this because there are still a lot of people creating topics one after the other. although people have started taking it on themselves to rate these discussions negative, so they won't earn a lot of money. thank you for making it more known.

thanks for your learning curve. i hope this will help many new users to improve their efficiency. One more point i feel to be important is the discussion should strict to the topic. un wanted matters will unnecessarily confuse the creator and ends in no meaning

You are right here, I think one can make as much money at the same time if they posted less with more quality and it's better than posting more in less quality. If you spend X number of hours and post 100 fast posts you would end up with less than $1, posting less number of posts (quality ones) you can make the same amount (or more) at the same X number of hours.

Exactly, you got it. It is the quality, not quantity that matters.

Exactly. Instead of sitting around trying to come up with ideas for discussion topics here on MyLot, start posting about things you know and like. And it would be helpful if you posted in your Interest sections instead of just general. And if I see one more post about what your favorite pizza topping is, I might scream.

Just rate them - if you don't like a discussion or its response. That would help all of us who want serious discussions to earn money.

Yes. You are right. We have to be particular about any topic and should write in rich content about it. Just writing a word or two would not be sufficient. So write to the point.

i did start a few discussions which requires to type in a bit..not just a word..and yes, good discussions earn you money..but the thing i've noticed is very few discussions which requires some effort to respond succeed as many of the people dont reply..thou a few interesting but long ones have succeeded...
• India
29 Dec 06
yes that is true. We should earn money by taking part in quality discussion. Let them waste time in stupid questions and answer session which doesn't earn them anything.

yes you are very right!!! even i used respond to discussions with short replies but later found that im not paid for my work, then mylot freinds told me about these rules!!! i have a doubt we earn more by responding to others discussions or by starting a serious discussion? because people say that starting new discussions earns them a lot is that true?

I think they both pay equally if what you write has serious content and not just one sentence of gibberish. What do you think?

this is really good to know thank you for the advise! I am a new mylot discussionist. I too noticed in the beginning I was answering really long comments and earned more money than lately I have only had time to answer shorter comments. So in otherwords it is better to answer to topics of great interest to you then to start lame topics, correct?

yes, I think participating in dumb discussions isn't going to pay you either as myLot removes those discussions and so your responses to them also go out. Only if you have responded with some serious input then your posts still earn you even if the dumb discussions are thrown out.

well then y are all the quick answer ones that have 30+ answers. I havnt started any discussions like these, but all my topics get burried...and Ive thought of some good ones... some that i honestly wanted people to answers... it seems to me that people avoid truly good discussions...for the one or two sentence answer discussion....
