It depends on the type of currency. The one failsafe measure of detecting counterfit money is to submerge the bill in water. If the ink runs off, it clearly was fake! I've had that happen before. Our currency has many features that prevent counterfiting, such as blacklight ink, holographic images and watermarks. These should clearly be visible on a real bill. Also, some currencies have writing on them. If you can't read the writing, then it's fake.
