It seems like anxiety is so horrible at times, I mean sometimes i guess it's not all that bad, though people can see more bad in it than good, But really... I mean, I only get bad anxiety attacks when i get angry, or am put into a situation that remindes me of a time or person that has scared the life out of me time and time again... I get dizzy, Can't breathe, Pain, Tired, And a lot of the time black out... But in so many cases it's a sign to slow down or get out of a situation i don't like... Why do you think so many people see it as a terrible thing? For me it can be my savior, If you know what i mean...

What's this supposed to mean? Her symptoms are clearly those of anxiety.

I have both anxiety disorder and Clinical depression. but in years of this disorder, a lot of psychology study, reading, and course work, I have learned how to both control it and see the warning signes before it happens. There is always a warning sign. I have been on more medications out there than the average person with these disorders and none have helped me the way i needed. I have pushed myself forward, finding ways to get around my 'disability' I can't handle public, no more than 2 or 3 at a time, and i still can't handle seeing certain people in my life, or going into certain situations that trigger my memories, but i know that when i start feeling something that says your going to panic right away, i get out. There was one day not long ago that i didn't... That cost me a few days. I confronted someone that was a big part of this disorder for me, I was sitting in a chair that was pretty sturdy when i did it and i ended up breaking it in the process. Yes, it can be horrible for me at times, when i'm intent on doing something to help myself, but i can definately say that i have got the best hold on it i can. And that i can see the warning signes of it before it happens full force. Many people see the warning signes but think that they're already in the anxiety attack more than they can handle. If you just get out, within a few minutes the attack can get better... And people out there who have lost friends or jobs because of this, so have i, and i'm sure everyone else who has this disorder... But really, were these friends and jobs worth your stress and anxiety? These disorders take days and years out of peoples lives, but if you can learn how to cope, and the proper techniques to get yourself through, you can really make a difference in your own life.

My husband has GAD and it cost him a very high paying job last July and he went downhill majorly, we lost our apartment etc.. It was really hard on him and had a lot of effect on our family and our lives in general, he didn't want me to leave his site, he wouldn't go anywhere without me, he wouldn't drive etc. It was super hard on me too, losing everything I wanted to blame him but I couldn't because it wasn't really his fault. 3 weeks ago on Tuesday he started his first job since he was diagnosed with gad and he is finally over coming his anxiety! Thank GOD!! I am so happy for him! His Anxiety took a LOT away from his life!! He would have attacks for no apparent reason and it hurt his self esteem a LOT!

Yeah i know what you mean. See though, his was more severe than the average anxiety disorder... Most people have it to a smaller degree, and in some cases like his it can get so bad that it messes everything up, now that he's getting the proper treatment, He can over come it... But with people that have it to a lesser degree, or anxiety that is associated with something, like depression, it's easier to control. One of the major problems is that people don't know what they have, they get scared because they don't know what is going on in their lives and start to fall, because they don't know where to start...

Anything that effects you like that has deeper causes. They may be hormonal or psychological or both. This could also be a sign of a medical condition. The physical symptoms you describe say you need help. Without finding the cause your condition can increase and cause more problems. Someone that was dear to me ignored her symptoms and it caused deeper problems. What you think is your savior could be harming you.

Your right, it does have deeper causes, and you just have to learn to find what they are by how each situation causes you to react. It can also cause several health conditions otherwise, which is something that it has done to me. Thankfully, as soon as i went off the meds for it, I began to get better, Thank god that there's places you can go to learn about your illnesses. Thanx.

It's sounds like for some it can be a good thing but I know that it has held me back from doing alot of the things I would like to do. So maybe its depends on why a person is having the anxiety?

My type of Anxiety is Social Anxeity and I have noticed that when I first told people about it after being diagnosed most people just assumed it was just nerves. But anyone that has gone through it knows its much more. I have been helped greatly by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and would recomend it for someone looking for help. The "Midwest Center for Stress and Anxiety" has some resources that got me through some tough times aswell.

In your case it sounds like your anxiety may at times be a good thing. A lot of people, however, have anxiety attacks, at times when it's really not a warning sign. Sometimes they can strike right out of the blue. For some people they can cost them their job, embarass them in public, and any number of other things. Also there is the fact that it can be extremely frightening. You seem to have a handle on yours and I'm happy for you. For most people, however, it's much better to treat the disorder and attempt to control the attacks.

I often feel a lot of anxiety in social situations. It kind of comes out of nowhere sometimes and I get nervous and shaky. Unfortunately, I would just try to avoid a lot of situations, which can make you feel a prisoner to the condition. You could also miss out on a lot when anxiety gets the better of you. I think I've gotten better but sometimes it's just a vicious cycle.

If you are frequently anxious it will make a very bad impression on you! The bad impression will cost you a lot. Remember slow and steady wins the race. The success in life depends upon how you develope the relationship with other people. Anxiety might have cost even your very close friends. Even if you are very anxious try to hide it. If you start to pretent like a very cool person, you will become a cool person soon!
