I know at least ONE other person probably frequently reads from this list (waves at Wyrdsister). I have recently re-taken up knitting and was wondering if anyone has any really really REALLY simple knitting projects that I could possibly take up. I'm still only on two needles (nothing fancy quite yet) so please be gentle, LOL! I am currently working on a scarf for myself but would love to hear about any simple knitting projects that can be done with two needles!

I am a two needle knitter. I have some patterns that I could scan and share with you. Let me know.

You could make a bag. You could make finger puppets - cast on a few stitches, maybe 12, knit for about the length of a kid's finger, and then draw the yarn through the stitches and pull tight. knit little triangles for ears, sew it all together, and you've got a little animal. I'm very fond of my circular needles, but I think you could make just about anything on straight needles so long as you're willing to do some stitching together at the end.

Right now I'm using a very nice Red Heart Soft Touch yarn in four different verrigating (sp?) colours. I love the feel of it. Any yarn will do right now, just don't fix me up with funky weird yarn just yet LOL

Please read my post here for ideas: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/449716.aspx. What size knitting needles do you have? Circular or straight?

Straight right now, size 6. I'm knitting a scarf (knit straight first eight rows, then knit 4, purl 16, knit four one way, straight knit the other way until I decide that it's going to end, then knit straight for 8 rows...makes for a nice border).

scarfs are a great project to start on. Not much yarn is needed and not much time is needed either. I often get free patterns from knittinghelp.com and knittingpatterncentral.com. Knitting help is great because it provides videos to watch to help you freshen up. I was only doing the knit stitch for years and I used that site to remind me how to purl. Written directions were not enough for me. I needed to see the stitch in a video. Good luck to you!

Thanks so much for the linkage!! I've already completed two scarves (one for myself, one for my boss) and am about to start a third for my husband. Right now, scarves and squares are the ONLY thing I know how to do LOL. The links will help tremendously though. Thanks again!!

I'm too are a re-knitter beginner i started with the fluffy scarves which are no the best to start with because when you drop a stitch, it's really hard to get it back. But now i've mastered that i made a bag to go with it, using a straight piece of knitting and using plastic rings made for bags, just inserted them in like a hem. It made a really nice set as a chistmas present. my friend loved it.

I just got a fluffy scarf/hat set from mother in law for Christmas and would eventually like to try it, but I think I'm going to practise some more before I pick up anything other than regular yarn :)

well of course the easiest thing to knit would be a scarf or dish cloth or something that you would not have to knit curves at least that is what i think a blanket would not be that hard i always knit blankets in long pieces kind of like you would a scarf but wider then conntect them all together i am not that great of a knitter but i have taken on the task of trying to knit a sweater just using two needles also without using a pattern just going by what is in my head haha good luck with your knitting
