I don't believe that every woman has a maternal instinct. There are cases where this is exhibited as more extreme than others (such as simply not caring about the welfare of your baby at all vs. not having the desire to have or parent children) and it can't always be blamed on post-partum depression or psychosis. Some women just don't have it and don't bond with a child while others just don't have the desire to have children-and these are the ones who would probably "force the bond" because they knew/felt it was the right thing to do. Some women just don't "get it" when it comes to motherhood, and others "learn it".

I think some people do and others don't. I don't think it depends on you having children. I don't have children but I have a very good instinct. For example, yesterday my husband was going to ride his bicycle down the street a couple of blocks to buy a couple of grocery items. He has done that before and I never said anything. Yesterday, I told him to watch out for the cars because he might get hit. I just felt I needed to warn him. When he returned he was very shaken up. Someone had opened their car door just as he approached their vehicle and when he swerved to miss the door he was almost hit by another car. This kind of premonition happens once in a while and it is just something that I know.

yes.of course
women dont have to have their own children to have a maternal instinct.

I don't think all women have maternal instincts. I think you can gain them later but not all have it when their baby's are born.

I don't believe so, because I'm a woman and I don't have any.

No, not all women have maternal instincts. You really have to want to be a mother, to be an effective and good nurturer. I mean any woman can have a child, but it takes more than carrying a baby to full term and birthing it, to be a mother. That's why leaping into parenting and having children should be a well thought out process.

I really don't think so, I could be wrong. Maybe for some it kicks in after they are pregnant or after they give birth. It does seem as though some females are not cut out to be mothers. They do not want to give up their lifestyles or make any sacrifies for their children.
