I have more than one time. But one of the occasions was quite serious they were getting ready to put me into support groups and on a transplant list and more! Thank god for another doctor catching this error. Has it happened to you or anyone you know??

yes. i had a rash on my bikini line and didnt know why. i shaved it and i guess i'm allergic to that. but they said it was an allergic reaction to my laundry detergent or soap. which it wasnt. i use all clear. it has no perfumes or anything in it and i use dove soap for sensitive skin. i had the rash for about 2 to 3 months. then they said i had a yeast infection. which it was. but they misdiagnosed me so the medicine i was using didnt help. wow. a transplant list that's serious.

Woah! Your experience sounds really scary! How are you doing now? I've been misdiagnosed before, but fortunately it wasn't for anything that freakishly serious. When I was in grade 7, I started experiencing tightness in my chest and would find it painful to breathe for short periods of a time. I was used to having chest colds (as was my mom), and we just thought it was a lot of phlegm in my lungs and would eventually go away. Well, it got so bad that breathing became almost impossible, so I was rushed to the ER. A stupid doctor told me I had the stomach flu. Yep, just the flu. Never mind that my stomach was in great shape, I was experiencing excruciating chest pains and I couldn't breathe. Nope, he decided it was the stomach flu and gave me antibiotics (second dumb move). I had started to breathe better after being in the ER for about 45 minutes, so my mom took me home. The next day, she took me to a real doctor. ;) Turns out I had something called "Costochondritis" (I'd provide you a link to an article, but because my user rating is below 500, I can't cut and paste the link into this window for you :P ). It's not a dangerous illness, but pretty painful and it can last for months. It would have been good to know that when I wasn't able to breathe so I didn't wonder if I was dying. ;) ~Wyrdsister

Once. However the Portuguese was doubtful of his diagnosis because of the lack of updated equipment here in Portugal. His diagnosis, based on the test that I had taken, was lupus. He said that if were possible he would suggest that I go to the States where they were better equipped. As luck would have it, I had a trip planned to the US not long after that. I took all the records and results with me and went to my family doctor in Maine. He read them all thoroughly and had a tendency to agree with the diagnosis. However carrying out more tests it was found that I did not have lupus at all. Was gonna upload an image of the disease but it is so horrifying I decided against it. Had I not gone to the States it's hard to say what would have happened. Lupus, from what I gathered, is a fatal disease. I do not blame the first doctor, though, because he was not completely convinced in the first place.

Wow thanks so much for sharing your story I hope these posts will help people realize doctors are not always right but I am not saying they are bad either just to search and find the right one for you.

Oh yes I have been and seen others who have been. Some of it the doctors were out and out quacks. Like the one who told my mother she was allergic to her own sweat. Others I think they just didn't want to bother with doing their job correctly. Recently I had a problem with edema, I mean really bad edema in my feet and legs. They looked like sausages and I could barely walk it hurt so bad. I asked the doctor about it and he just looked at me and said it was due to my weight. Now I admit I'm overweight and have been almost all my adult life and never had a problem with edema. It turned out the bottle water I was drinking had magnesium sulfate in it and I'm allergic to sulfas of all sorts. I stopped drinking it and boom my feet went back to normal. I lost 10lbs in water weight from switching bottled water. Back when my niece was born she was screaming constantly. Nothing we did could help. Finally we took her to the ER because it was so bad. The doctor there said it was just colic and gave us Phenobarbital drops for her. Two days later we got her in to the pediatrician. Yes she had colic but she also had an infected belly button and it was herniated. The pediatrician said the ER doctor should have seen that right off and given antibiotics for her not the other drops. If you are ever in doubt get a second opinion. You never know what doctors will do or not do.

I had been misdiagnosed once by a doctor. I was diagnosed of cholyestitis because of my ultrasound result. I guess am lucky because other doctor which is a friend of my mom who is a specialist not allow such medicine to be taken by me because I don't have any symptoms of such disease, so I guess doctors and even aparatus fail at times.
