In the sky! A bird? A plane? A ... UFO?

Published January 1, 2007. It sounds like a tired joke--but a group of airline employees insist they are in earnest, and they are upset that neither their bosses nor the government will take them seriously. A flying saucerlike object hovered low over O'Hare International Airport for several minutes before bolting through thick clouds with such intense energy that it left an eerie hole in overcast skies, said some United Airlines employees who observed the phenomenon. Was it an alien spaceship? A weather balloon lost in the airspace over the world's second-busiest airport? A top-secret military craft? Or simply a reflection from lights that played a trick on the eyes?

I can imagine their frustration. I hate it when I know I saw something and no one will listen. Not that I have seen a UFO, I haven't, I just mean in general. As for this story, I think the problem is the money. To go out, and search for something that may have been just a reflection of lights, would be costly. Most people would not see it as a wise decision for the cost factor. On a side question, isn’t there a government institution that specializes in the study of UFO’s? If so maybe these guys could contact them, or maybe they will be contacted by them since this story is out. Interesting read!

sunshine cup - amazing point of view. Yeah your explanation sounds plausible. From my point of view, I so hope we are alone in the universe, or if we are not, that whoever/ whatever is out there is friendly and very peaceful. From all the alien movies (yeah some source!)its a scary concept, but hey..most aliens only target the USA, so maybe I am safe??

Yes it can be fustrating when you say one thing and no one else believes you. I believe it does have something to do with the money. They are trying to use as much of it on the troops overseas!

apparently this is not the first time that a strange object has been seen over o'hare airport. Pretty interesting, though it does make you wonder if it is a military cover up if no one will talk about it or belive the people involved. I believe there has to be something out there, but if the aliens are that clever surely they wouldn't show themselves to us unless they wanted to.....

I think as you, however it will be that she did not pass of an illusion? I believe that we see what we want to see and that everything that they wanted to see age something thus. Very different of the normal one.

It is all humbug. Many stories have come up regarding alien ships having been sighted or aliens having walked over the earth. But no foolproof evidence has come to be tracked. As long as things not show for real, it is better to keep them under unidentified and unidentified and unidentified, lest people start identifying stories which do not at all relate to aliens visiting this planet.

wow that is pretty amazing and so frustrating at the same time. Who knows what it could have been but it is very possilbe it was just lights but then again you never can tell. That is so amazing as I will be moving to Chicago so to think that perhaps Aliens may inhabit there or even try to land or who knows near where I will be living is kind of scary to me! But strange as well...who knws, but you know it could be top secret military craft too that is not hard to conceive

UFO sightings have been around for a long time. I've never known anyone personally who saw one. Don't know if they are true. The idea of secret military prototypes is plausible. If it is aliens coming, I hope it is the Vulcans or the Asgards or the Knox! LOL

I don't believe in UFO's. It may be some other craft but how could it enter the jurisdiction of others? It may also be a reflection from lights and the imagination of those who saw added so many other things.

id have to put out the opinion that it was either something imagined by the late shifts these employees were pulling or that it was a helicoptor that they were watching, then they looked away and before they new it the helicoptor had departed and possibly even moved the clouds above, then as the story got passed from person to person, it changed and became more exagerated etc. i dont think the goverment would decide to test a new aircraft right over the heads of thousands of people in airport airspace...and i cant imagine it actually being a UFO if it was, it would have been spotted on endless radars etc and we would have a bonanza of media coverage on it. khris

I think that the people know what they saw. If they saw a UFO then they saw a UFO, the government often says that they don't believe these people but they are just covering it up trying to get a shot at bringing another one down in secrecy so they can dissect em and do all kinds of nasty, mean, weird stuff to our "Guests".

Interesting! The official explanation is that it was a reflection of lights, yet the witnesses including more than one pilot state there were no lights on the saucer shaped craft. Who knows .......

I cant believe that it was a reflection of lights. He have heard that story again and again. Of course it is not reflection. But it could be a top secret military aircraft but i also dont believe it and i will tell you why. We hear for so many years about top secret military aircrafts when somebody tells that he has seen a UFO. But every top secret aircraft after some years becomes known because they have found a new top secret aircraft. Have we ever seen a human made aircraft that can do these things? No and we arent going to see in the next years. So, yes it is a UFO. This is my point of view.

This is an interesting account. I believe the staff in airport control tower should have the best view of the UFO since it is just above the airport. Did they see the same thing as the airline employees?
