The new law banning smoking totally in public buildings and restuarants goes into effect today. We previously had a no smoking in restuarants unless there was a bar in the restuarant. Smoking was permitted in the bar only. Do you think this is a good law prohibitting it totally now?

Why can't smokers have their own bars and restaurants? Who has a right to tell another humanbeing what is right for them? Are you perfect that you can tell someone stop smoking, stop using bad language? I thought the US was the land of the free. Oh, I guess only if they agree with you.
I don't see why if a bar owner wants to have smokers he or she can't post the bar as a smoking bar. This means that it would up to the individual weather to go in or not. The same with restaurants. The owner of the business should decide what is best for his or her business.
Stop discriminating against smokers.

It is not only proven that smoking is an addiction that kills but companies knowingly profit from it. Second hand smoke hurts the innocent and the more they limit it the better the next generation will be.

One of my best friend's wife is on the way out due to illness caused by smoking. Several of my friends are gone. And three members of my family who smoke have had some form of cancer. Yeah, smoking should be a form of capital punishment.

I think i's gross when you don't smoke and you're trying to enjoy a meal and all you can smell is smoke!

By now I have gotten used to it, and I think so has everyone else. At the time when these laws started to come around I thought it should have been a decision left up to the businesses allowing the free market to determine what happens next. Ultimately, I think it was probably a good idea.

First of all I am not a smoker, So, that you know already my answer. I really hate when people are smoking in a restaurant or in a public building. It should be smoke free for those who are not smoking. Smoke somewhere else.

As a passive smoker i welcome that law but i am not sure how the others would take it though it is really good for the people and the environment!

Yes, I stick by this because of second-hand smoke and the damage it can do to "innocent bystanders". I know a lot of people that have allergies to smoke and can't go into places where there's smoke. It makes the place smell nicer, look nicer, etc. It's just a healthier way to conduct business. If you want to smoke, go outside like the others. I know many smokers who agree with this. Some people who used to smoke quit because of this. They got sick of having to go outside to smoke, so they slowly quit and have been happy ever since.
