Is 8 hrs /day of sleep really needed for a human?

does it affect the body is if 1 gets less sleep.n also if 1 gets more than wats needed...

Yes minimum of 8 hours are required at least till the age of 40-45 years. Later, one would get less sleep say 5-6 hours, but then those who are working outside home, running around job, they may require 1 hour afternoon nap. At the age of 70 or 75 one would sleep for 5 hours but they compensage this by sleeping in day time.
