I don't understand why people hurt themselves by cutting themselves on purpose, or burning themselves on purpose. My friend's daughter does this. Please help me to understand.

maheshraor its got something to do with the state of mind of the person... i too had a friend who had reverted to physically hurting himself due to some failures and sorows in life... and the fact was howmuch evr i tried to advice him about this ...he never ever tried...
