I have always been a person who worried alot. But within the last year the worrying has taken over my life. I am constantly worrying about my kids and my finances and everything else. When I am at work I find it so incredibly hard to focus on my work and I am only getting done a portion of what I used to be able to do. When I drive places my mind is constantly in a state of worry and I miss my turns frequently and when I get to my destination many times I can't remember anything about the drive. At night I lay in bed worrying about things for hours, and no matter how much I try to clear my mind I can't. This is taking over my life and I can't seem to make it get any better? Can anybody help me, I am at my wits end. What can I do?

i think you shoul dgo see a doctor as said above before it gets worse i started with anxiety when i started bodybuilding its a common thing with bodybuilders so ive spokent alot of people with it mine started the same as yours just general worry then moved on to feeling like i was haveing a heart attack every time i was worrying (not a nice feeling) in the end they had to put me on beta blockers to slow down my heart and stop me feeling it the doctor said if i went intime when it was just general worrying they could have sorted it with anti depresants

I agree with you.... noone here can provide you with the real help you will need, though it's nice to reach out and try to find people with similar problems and quick advice. I think humans, in general, suffer from stress and worrying at some point in their lives so I think that's normal, but if it is to the point where it is taking over your life, you probably need to seek professional help in order to learn to understand how to deal with it better :) Good luck!

I agree 100% with everything that Manifest said above me. I can't stress enough that if it is really taking over your life, perhaps you need to seek professional help and get on some medication. I know what is like to feel anxious and nervous and worried - I think that we all do, as humans, and I am an extra sensitive soul who can lay in bed at 3am in the morning worrying about something that I wrote a week ago wondering if I said something wrong and thinking about how someone else might have taken what I said... but even I would not say that anxiety is taking over my life, and if it did I would hope to try to seek help somehow. I wish you all the best and I hope that you will update us on what happens and if you talk to a medical professional. I really feel for you and I know that sometimes the feelings of anxiety can become horrible. At one point last summer I really thought that I might be giving myself an ulcer I was so upset over something for a few days, but thankfully I was able to get past that and have been trying to push away my anxious feelings as often as I can lately. Sometimes it is so hard, though. I really am thinking of you and you have my best wishes and all my sympathy! ^_^ Take care of yourself and relax as much as you can. ^_^

This is me to a tee...I have always been a worrier..but over the years it just got worse...and now I actually suffer anxiety/panic. I have been on medication for a while now..but I am slowly getting off..because I don't like having to be on something. I am hoping that I can maintain myself without it. I would suggest that you try not to worry so much...try yoga...meditation...and exercise is very good. I know it sounds easy...but worrying can take over your life. You need to try and get other involved too...and help you out with things..don't try and take on everything yourself. Take some time just for you...a bath..a walk..etc. I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me..if you would like to talk more....I understand.

Thank you, I hope I don't have to go on medication, but if I need to I will. I just want to get my life back. I do feel good that I finally made an appointment to see the doctor, now I just have to wait two weeks.

My husband didn't to go on medication. But he has and it helps him to be a better spouse and a better father. If it makes you a better person to those you're around, you may be doing them and yourself a disservice if you don't try medications (if prescribed) and of course, talk therapy.

I used to be on medication for anxiety and stress but am no longer on it but at times I still feel very anxious. I had a panic attack at work once because I was so anxious. We have to be careful about our anxiety levels as it can lead to more serious health issues. Exercising is definitely a good thing and eating healthy may help as well or just talking to someone close to you about pleasant things or things you enjoy.

I do suffer from anxiety and stress as I worry a lot about major things and minor things. I just can not help worrying about various things or people. I worry about how much sleep I get at night or being late to work or to a friends house. I try and find something to keep me busy and take my mind off of everyday things. A bubble bath, watching a funny movie, listening to nice music, going for a walk, exercising, playing games and other things. Find something that you enjoy that will take your mind off of the things that you worry about.

Thanks everyone for you replies. I have been to the doctor and she decided that before we try any medication she wants me to see a psychiatrist once a week for the next two weeks. She thinks having someone to talk to about my anxiety will help. If it does not help she said then we will try some medication. So, I am trying to stay optimistic.

yeah I had been to frequent anxiety attacks but I always get over it when I fervently pray and ask for the Holy Spirit to guide me. At night I write down my worries and concerns, put it in a box and says to God, please take care of my concerns as I will sleep first and the next day I ask God what shall I do to solve all my problems. And things become easier...

I also have suffered from anxiety...everything from worrying about my kids to believing I was dying. I would worry about something, get side tracked and then worry about not being able to remember what I should be worrying about. What has helped me the most is prayer. Whenever I'm really worried or anxious about something I try to take a few quiet moments to pray to God and tell him what my fears are, and then I visualize myself placing a box (filled with my worries)at God's feet and then step away from it, taking my hands off of the situation and trusting that God will handle it. Then, whenever those worries start to invade my mind, I just remind myself that I have already given them to God and they are in His hands now, not mine, so they are no longer mine to worry about. It takes some time but eventually you will learn to leave the troubles that are out of your control where they belong, at the feet of God and out of your mind. I wish you well. And try to remember that all the time you spend worrying about things that you can not change is precious time you are being robbed of, and a moment of happiness you could have been experiencing.

I hope and pray that you will overcome your anxiey. I can't help you overcome this anxiey but God can. If you believe in God just pray and ask Him for help. Everytime you have a negative thought of worry pray and cast down that thought. Do it everytime you worry. I find that when I wake up sometimes and worry that the only way I can go back to sleep is to say a prayer. He is in control not me. Do not worry about anything just take it one day at a time. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;but of power, and of love, and of sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7)

Hi Its right that u should consult a doctor to see what the matter really is. But having said that i would also suggest u that take things positively. Because all of us have worries more or less, but we do have. So, the idea should be to enjoy life as more as possible. Worries are part and parcel of life as happiness.

There have been times in my life that anxiety unfortunately took over. I had to see a therapist and they put me on anti-depressants for a while. The second time anxiety took a hold I had to realize that I was wasting a lot of precious and valuable time worrying over things that I had no control over so I figured for my health I had better find some ways to let the stress go. I started exercising, read inspirational books, started hobbies, and found things to take my mind off the constant anxiety. After a while I found the anxiety not to be so difficult to manage.

I am on medication for my anxiety. I actually have an anxiety disorder coupled with bipolar. Instead of being manic-depressive, I am anxious-depressive. My highs in energy level find me being consumed with all that might go wrong and my lows find me not caring at all. I have been on a couple of different medications, Lexapro and Ativan being the two most effective. Ativan is a lifesaver, being able to take it when I am at my breaking point to calm down. Have you seen a doctor about it? I know a very good psychiatrist in the San Diego area, but I don't know exactly where you are.
