I am sorry to hear of this, what do you gamble on, if you don't mind me asking? I am in a similar situation, last year I became heavily depressed, I don't drink or smoke but I do like the slots, and I was given free credits to play slots online, since then I've been hooked. I was up one night and I got to the stage where I didn't care if I lost and I was using my credit card to add more and more credit on. I started with a budget but would go over. I was so angry with myself and with the site that had lured me into gambling, I had about 4 sites where I would play slots, I closed my account with them and most sites do have a 'helpline' and you are able to ban yourself from playing. I've made a new years resolution to stop and so far I haven't spent a penny. I dreaded my credit card bill, I don't currently work, so its the frustration of not being in work. I didn't seek help just realized how stupid I had been. Do you have anyone you could turn to to help you with this? Why do you gamble, you need to get to the root of why you gamble, there is obviously a route cause, unhappiness? Sorry I don't mean to pry. I do sincerely hope you get yourself back on track. Good luck and take care.

I am so sorry dear, to hear this. You first must make up your mind to quit the gambling. If you cannot do it on your own, then you need to go for help. There are organizations that will guide and help you. Good luck my friend. The first step is recognizing the problem, and you have. Blessings.

The closest I have come to gambling is more subtle than placing bets. I gambled on making money online, and have HUGE credit card indebtedness. I am sort of diggin my way out. I have stopped putting money on credit cards for businesses. Enough about me, do you have access to a "gamblers' anonymous"type program. If you do, go there. You are from Scotland, do you have some version of a credit counsellor? If you can find one that is a not-for-profit agency, they are worth seeing and free to inexpensive. Be careful, though, some of those are scams as well. Best of Luck
