If you buy large eggs in a container of one dozen, they are costing around $1.29 a dozen here in the northern panhandle of Texas. I was just curious how much certain every day grocery items might cost where you live.

Hi, I teach part-time here at a private institution. The salary here isn't bad depending on what job you have. The cost of living I must say is high but if you have an average job you will survive. Are you interested in relocating to Barbados?

What kind of work do you do? What is your salary? Is the cost of living higher in barbados?

It it very seldom that we buy eggs because we have our own hens although we are now down to only 4 of them but they lay every day and so we get enough for ourselves, unless of course I am going to do a major cook up. Last week when we were shopping I did notice that they were actually $3.89 for a carton of a dozen and we often see them at the markets for $3.00, so the amount you are paying does seem cheap to me. LOL

Thanks very much for giving me best response for this discussion, and is really appreciated. :) Oh, by the way current batch of hens are being replaced as soon as winter has finished. This lot don't seem to be much interested in laying eggs now.

I buy free range eggs of the side of the country lanes near where I live. I usually pay £1.50 for 30 big eggs on a tray.. They are nicer and fresher than the supermarket, yum

Okay...how do I get a comparison in US dollars so I'll know? And what are free range eggs? Like a small farmer with his own chickens? I use to call those fertilized eggs and they are quite good.

I live in the south and many of the items that I use, I purchase at our local Walmart Supercenter. A doz. of large eggs cost about $.99 a carton. I find that many of the household items that I purchase there are a few cents cheaper than at other stores...SS

The last time I bought a carton of eggs, I sepnt $.89 at Super Walmart. All of their eggs (unless you buy the brown eggs or specialty eggs) are under $1.

One egg is ranging from 6/- to 10/-. Depend on where you buy. From supermarkets, they give in 12 dozen cartons. But we can buy in small shops retail also which is cheaper. our currency is US 1/- = Rs. 109/- these days.

a dozen eggs - we buy our eggs at the store and soon we shall have our own to collect and maybe enough to sell
We bought our eggs for 89 cents I believe. We are working on having our own chickens so that we can all we need and maybe make a buck a dozen for fresh, natural eggs. Also some will be different colors due to the type of chickens we will have.

Well, I but free range organic eggs, and it costs 89 cents a carton where I am - the high desert mountains in Arizona. They're local eggs, and I get them at the farmer's market, so that probably makes a big difference. I don't really know what a dozen eggs costs in the grocery store around here.

I live in Indiana and right now at Kroger they are 93 cents for a dozen medium eggs...but if you go to Aldi's or someplace like that they are like 60 cents for the large dozen. Or you can get 30 for 2.20. They are cheap. My darn fridge keeps freezing all my eggs and it's really making me mad!! I've turned the fridge all the way down to 3!! I don't know what the heck is going on...lol

I have just checked one supermarket, as I don't really know how much I pay for my eggs. For 1 doz extra large (my favourite) it costs €3.41; 1 doz large costs €2.90 and 1 doz medium costs €1.78. The medium size would be very small, so I would eat two of them.

That's a little bit high for eggs. Around here in Kentucky we pay around seventy something cents for a dozen of eggs. I don't remember the price exactly, but it's less than a dollar.
