my first time to give a ( - ) rating

i never gave a minus rating before. i do get annoyed at some responses but whenever this happens, i just reply to their responses telling them my views. but yesterday, it was different. i was answering a question about pets. after posting my response to that discussion, i went through other people's answers and read this on one of the answers: dxghdgxhgidfjefdjd (more or else, it's like this as it appeared). i got really annoyed since the topic was so simple! i immediately pushed the (-) button for him! it just shows that he's not up for discussing things at all! it was my first time to give someone a negative rating but i did not feel bad about it. it served him right!

i know what you mean! it annoys me endlessly whenever i see such responses. and then there are those who answers'i dont know' in some of the topic. grrr! i admire you, you said you have the patience of a saint. i dont, so whenever i see stupid responses i give them negative rating.

yes, i did have the patience of a saint.. even in real life. but there's limit to that patience. and i felt better after giving that person a - rating. because i know it's what he deserves.

Ughh i know what you mean. but i've been giving alot of those - ratings. I've seen alot of stupid posts by this one poster. I dunno why i kept replying to them anyways. Anywho he kept asking questions that only had one line. Yes a single line of text!

i know. some people are obviously up to increase their points here. and it upsets us. but i am not much into giving them - ratings. i just try and reply and give my opinion to their responses.

if you have no time to explain your post, then don't post anything at all. if you feel like you are angry, then explain why you are mad about the issue or the discussion. don't type letters like dgjdiofjdjfi. it obviously means nothing. or if it means something, let us know what it means.

Isn't it rediculous? You would think that they KNOW they are going to be given the (-) yet, they still do it! DUHHHHH!!! For all the time it took to do that, they could of typed in something useful, yes, no, maybe, whatever...why would you do that? I find it even more annoying when they type in ..."Thanks for telling me, I don't know". WTF??? Why would you even respond? Some people are just scammers and spammers, and with Mylot....they will NOT win!!! YEAHHHH, I love Mylot!!!

I don't blame you. I think there are users out there that think they can "beat the system" by one word responses or something that has nothing to do with what was posted. Those are the ones I hope they catch. These people are out to make a quick buck and think they are doing it the easy way but I don't think they are. Good for you for giving a - when it was deserved.

yes. if they can't post something useful for other people to discuss about, then why post at all? it's not necessary to answer all questions and discussions here anyway. we are here to respond to topics which atleast we have knowledge on.

As of now, I haven't rated any discussions with a negative (-). I admit sometimes I don't like the answer but that was their opinion. I do give postive ratings and best response for those who give a nice answer.

i don't give negative answers for opinions that is againsts my stand. we can discuss things more that way and i find it better. what i hate is i find so stupid answers like the one i encountered earlier. the dghdkjfodkfi answer. it does not mean anything. it's not even a word at all!

I give negative ratings alot. Only if they deserve it. I give them to the bad discussions, or if someone gives me a bad response.

I too give them out sparingly. The only way you get a minus from me is if you're rude, simply copy and paste or put one word answers down. Otherwise I rate ALL of my discussions and with a plus because you deserve it if you took the time to answer my discussions.

i have seen lots of pasted discussions here, too. i used to not care at all. but i realized that if i let people be like this and not do my part and react in a right way, many more members will be like them. atleas, a lot of us are doing our parts in making this site better.

I rate the majority of responses with a "+" but surely a copy and paste should be reported, not just given a "-"?

Congratulations! Next time, report the response to MyLot as abuse before you give the negative rating! I have been reporting and rating these losers for some time, as have a number of other people at MyLot, and I think that the administration is starting to listen. But I keep reminding myself and others to also give positive ratings when they are deserved. It's up to all of us to make this system work. By the way, you must have the patience of a saint to get to over 3000 posts without ever giving a negative rating!

yep. i got the patience of a saint! i am a member here for 5 months now. but i only started being active last december. during my first month, i hated it here since many people just copied or paraphrased the discussions i've started instead of replying to my discussions. i still see people here now who copies my discussions but i don't care anymore. but i think i will report them if i get to see them again.

oh. that's rude. that's why we are here to give out our own opinions. we don't need to agree on all matters here. we are here to discuss things both pros and cons. and that reply is really so rude. good you reported him!

I too have reported people for abuse & given them a negative rating. I looked at this one topic & reported most of the original posters posts! But to be fair it was a debate & he asked for scientific research for those who wished to respond. And every person who did meet the requirements he asked for (& on an opposing view - me included) got a "f--- you, you don't know what your talking about" and similiar reponses from this guy. So there is nothing wrong with reporting abuse & giving negative ratings.

Great job you have done...even i would have done the same thing which you did if i would have seen that reply.I dont know why some people post such discussions if they dont know the proper way to respond to discussions.

Congratulations on reaching 3046, and not feeling the need to minus a response. I don't think people should minus rate a response just because the persons opinions disagree with your own, either. That is called discussion, but sometimes there will be an intelligent question, which someone has thought hard over, and great responses, and then someone types 'yes', or 'no' and that's it. That's the only thing that makes me reach for the negative, and likewise I have been more than happy to give a positive where an opinion disagrees with my views, but the person has argued their point well.

yes. i don't usually give negative ratings. it might be that a person's view is different from mine. and that everyone can't just agree on what i am saying all the time. that's why we discuss things here. and the no, yes and yesterday's dghakdfodnief answers really pissed me off!

yes. it's true. i've been in this other site where people just don't care about what they post. no ratings whatsoever. and i did not like it there since the discussions are not worth my time.

to be honest i think that you done a right thing, there is no need for that, the person showed that they did not care and all they was trying to do was to earn some money, i hope that the person knows that it simply does not work like that i say well done you and do it again if you see the same thing occur

some people think that it's better to earn money the easiest way. maybe. but money is really hard earned these days. and they should not be too much for the money. people like them won't last long here.

I gave my first negative rating the other day as well. The person gave a very sarcastic and inappropriate response to a topic that I had started. It was quite apparent they were just using it as a way to boost their post count, and not anything worthwhile to the discussion. It got them a negative rating anyway, that'll teach 'em! BTW, maybe someone can answer this... Is there any punishment when a person starts to receive a large number of negative ratings? Will their profile/posts be inspected, and possibly banned?

i do think that after sometime of being reported, the administrators (might) review the person's profile and discussions and ban them on mylot. which is good for us. atleast spammers will be deleted in this beautiful site.

The only time I have given negatives was when someone directly copy/pasted another persons answer which happens on the really large threads a lot. I think that is just so unfair to the people who actually typed out a meaningful reply. However, had I come across gibberish such as you did I would do the exact same thing. Cheers!

funny. i am a fool since i don't even give a negative rating or even report it when i have some of my discussions copied or paraphrased. i just make it pass my mood. it's not right. and now, i am learning. took some time for me to learn. but it's good that i've learned somehow.

I uderstand what you are saying, when I first joined mylot I thought that I could never give a negative rating. As I know that we all have our own apinion and are entitled to have it. These past couple of weeks though I have seen stuff like what you are talking about and have given a negative rating myself. I am with you, I did not feel bad either as like you said they desrved it.

right. for months, i never thought of what is best to do. before, there's no ratings here in mylot. like 5 months ago. now, it's better than we can rate our fellow members here. it's better this way.
