This question is inspired by an ad I saw on television where a pregnant woman beats up a guy with a blow up kids toy because he wont give up his seat to her on a bus. I don't know what it's advertising *laughs* Do you always give up your seat to the elderly or a pregnant woman on public transport? On the very rare occasions that I catch public transport, I do.

I don't catch public transport anymore but when I have and that situation has arrissed I have. I will always offer my seat to somebody who needs it more than myself... It's consideration for others...

been a long time since i used pt.. but i can assure you .,.that being a healthy young woman myself i would definitely give up my seat for any elderly, expectant mothers, women holding infants or small children, or anyone that seemed physically disabled.. without a second thought.. and id also get their attention before getting up to so that an "incondiderate" didnt get the seat first!

Now days some men carry a grudge and it is rare almost to see a man give up his seat to a woman or elderly because of the equal rights thing they think if we want to be treated equal then we shall be treated equal. But yes I do give up my seat to pregnant women, elderly or even a small child for they won't get hurt.

lol i love that advert.... i do give up my seat if someone needs it but i really think it has become lost to many nowadays and its sad to see that the younger ones dont have respect for older people or people who need a seat for whatever reason courtesy needs to be taught in schools at this rate or it will become a lost art heheh

Yeah i only use public transport on the rare occassion, but i often see heaps of kids on the bus and this poor old lady standing there, tyring to hold on.. i think it is common courtesy to give your seat up for an elderly person or an expecting mother.

I don't nkow about the elderly, but definitely not the pregnant. Pregnant people make a choice to have kids, and that was their choice, not mine. Nobody gives their seat up for me when I'm exhausted, or carrying a lot of heavy things, or really sick. I really dislike the idea that somehow just because you managed to get a fetus inside you you're suddenly so special that you're entitled to these things. Sure, it's nice, but it's not your right, and it's my right to choose not to be nice.
