Has anybody ever been to an American Idol audition or want to to? I want to go one year. I have been told that my voice is pretty nice. I'm just very scared.

I have never been to an American Idol audition, but I do work with performers and my advice is to go do the audition - but be prepared, as follows:. Definitely practice and practice the song you are going to sing until you sing it in your sleep. Forgetting the words because of stage fright is not going to get you on the show. Definitely practice in front of people - and ask the people listening to point out to you the best parts of your performance. Once you find out the best of what you do, when you practice, work on improving what you do best. Do this a few times. I would also like to point out that when you get people to listen to you, you need to ensure that the crowd knows that you are not looking for criticism, you are looking to find out what you do best so that you can work on improving on your best. So, if someone gives you criticism - don't ask the person back to listen, you don't need that type of "help". Once you have it down on what you want to sing, have found out what you do best and have worked on improving the best of your own best - then you need to have people listen to you - and this is the hard part - ask for the people to invalidate and criticize you, ruthlessly. You may wonder why I say that, but if you are going to go to an American Idol audition, you have to be ready for rude comments, even nasty and horrible comments. So, practice for it. But don't listen to a single invalidation or criticism, don't take it to heart. It may take a bit to get this to where your integrity stays intact. Being prepared is what will give you the professionalism that you need to be noticed. Hope that helps.

LMAO! I would be one of the people they show on there that sing their heart out and then are told how absolutely terrible they sound! The judges eyes would all get big in disbelief! You shouldn't be afraid to try out. There are several rounds to get through before you get to RAndy, Paula and Simon though.

I'm too old, but even if I weren't I know better! I'd no doubt be one of those that would be aired for being "that bad". I don't need that kind of attention! I know I can't sing. Not fooling myself and certainly couldn't fool anyone else. I always wonder about those who audition who can't sing to save themselves. If they're just auditioning out of boredom, a chance to meet the judges, or if they really think they have talent. Sometimes I think they're set up by friends!

I know I can't sing so I would never consider it but if you can sing and able to hold up under the pressure go for it

If I wasn't over the age limit, I would seriously think about it. I think it would be fun. I think you should go for it, definitely. You never know....

i mean, i have, but by the time i really started watching idol (which was the ending of season 2) i had already had a family, and when i though about it, if i had actually made it though (or maybe even the adutioning process as well) the time away from my children would kill me. although my husband always said if i made it through to hollywood he would find something to do with the kids since i'm a sahm.

NO WAY! I'd never audition for that show. I'm too sensitive and to have Simon rip me apart would make me bawl on national tv...LOL Although Simon is my favorite...when he is tearing someone else apart!!
