Xie Quiping, of China has been growing her hair since she was 13 years old. She started letting it grow in 1973. When measured in 2004, her hair was 18 feet 5.54 inches in length or 5.627 m.
The longest I managed to get my hair waist length. I cut off 12 inches about 5 years ago. Though I like my new shorter hairstyle, I still get long hair envy.

That is so interesting. I can only manage my hair a few inches past my waist. It won't grow anymore than that. I wonder how Xie Quiping wore her hair when it wasn't stretch out to be measured.

Cannot imagine hair quite that long, mine is too my waist..Having cut is some years ago and was extremely sorry that I did cut it. Not sure if I will cut it short again. Time will tell. Hair like that was on Crystal Gale and I thought it wonderful! Found this picture of China ladies with longest hair. One of them the lady you speak of?

wow that is WAY too much. How would you wash it? I guess she would need help to wash, brush, put it up. Too much trouble lol

I bet it would be impossible to manage.
Man, I've got hair only half way down my back. I want it waist length but that's it for me.

I would love to have my hair long. If only the back of it would grow out, lol! I've been trying to get it to grow for years, but nothing seems to help. It just stays at about shoulder length. I don't know that I would ever want it to be as long as the record holder's hair! But I would love to have it halfway down my back. One day I would at least like to have the money to consider hair extensions. I almost always feel better about myself if I can get my hair to look longer. I don't know why. I just think that it looks better on me that way. ^_^

That's about where my hair is at right now. I really don't care for long hair and I feel that I should be able to have whatever hair style I want, but my husband likes long hair.
I am however going to have it layered soon.
Albeit, I don't want to have really short hair either; makes me look fatter than I am, but please, I shouldn't have to bow down to anyone's preferences but my own. Yes?

I love long hair. Mine had grown quite alot since being pregnant and haviong my monster, however, I think that 18 feet in a little excessive. I get a headache sometimes because my hair is heavy when I put it in a pony tail or scrunchie. I just can't imagine having to brush the knots out of all that hair!

Wow, that is the longest hair I've ever heard of. I envy really long hair people too. I like to grow my hair out and so far, I'm doing great.

I like my hair long, but not too long to brush. That length is just insane!!! Wow!
18 feet!! And how tall is this woman? Did they say? I can't imagine having that long of hair! I can't imagine the knots she must get on a windy day. Though I am sure that she wears a braid of some sort to keep it from tangling.
Can you imagine haiving to braid that??? Well, if I get up at 6 am, I could have it unbraided by 7 am, washed by 8 am and braided and ready to go by 10am! LOL
