Now, I am personaly against abortion, I believe it's murder, but that is not the point i'm trying to bring up. I think that it is outragious that a child (teenager) be allowed to abort a pregnancy without parental consent. If the hospital needs my signature/consent to remove my child's tonsils, why do they not need it in order to remove a CHILD out of my kid? I don't understand this. Am I the only one who finds this horrible?

This is such a tough question I think..As a parent my instinct is also to say NO, I want to know!
Then I think of situations where the child may have parents that are very religious or they even feel in danger if they told them about thier situation.
Take for instance someone who is 17 and feels abortion is the right choice for her but knows her parents won't consent..I feel she should have the legal right to make that choice on behalf of herself.
There are some states that require a minor to go before a judge to get permission if they feel they can not go to thier parents..
Atleast in this way they are receiving guidance from a legal adult..
On the other hand, a child may just be afriad and if they have the right to do this without talking with thier parents first, it may end up being a regret and pain they carry thier whole lives..they may not be mature enough to make such a decision on thier own...
I don't know really..Like I said it's such a tough decision where each case is different..
It's a good question...

You are not the only one who finds it horrible. I know my husband & I would not be o-kay with this at all. An abortion is more than just a process. The teen is also going to need serious counceling, a long talk with parents & everything. I don't believe that they can fully understand the consquences of their actions.

Exactly, A teenager may initially see it as a quick-fix for a "problem" they got themselves into, but they won't understand what kind of serious ramifications that an abortion entails.

No, I have found this to be ironic, and horrible for a long, long time. We had a neighbor child hit by a car once, and ER could not treat her until her parents were located, and came in. That incident is the same one that made me ponder you same opinion. It stinks.

Yeah I have heard of that as well. It's sad, but I'm sure the hospital doesn't want to get sued. thanks for the response.

You are not the only one who feels that way. I don't believe a child under the age of 18 or maybe 21 should be able to make that decision on their own. Most of the time, that's too big for them to decide on for their future. Also the after effects would sometimes cause them to go into depression.

I feel the same way, if they need permission from a parent to put a child on birth control then why dont they need permission to kill an unborn child.
