The term 'Gandhigiri' is currently hot in the media - largely because someone said that it was coined in the film 'Lago Rahe Munnabhai' of sanjay dutt. The term may represent a present 'trend' or 'culture', but somehow, I dont like it!

Correct boss!! It is just a hot wind now due to the movie "Lage raho munna bhai". Gandhism is not a thing to materialise and it exists stand from the time we struggled for the freedom.

True! The word itself, 'Gandhigiri', like 'chamchagiri'(sycophancy), and 'dadagiri'(rowdyism) has negative connotations.I feel the '..giri' should not be attributed for a positive concept such as 'Gandhisim'. It sounds belittling at the same time appeasing.

I'm not sure I would even know how to pronounce it properly. I use the word FAD because I can spell it and say it. Gandhigiri sounds like a cool word tho. I'll try to remember it and use it a few times to see what people's reaction is to it in the USA.

I admit, it looks rather sophisticated, perhaps in text I could see myself using it, but not myself personally.

Hehehe..ya this term is being used so frequently now..I'm sure it will vanish soon! All a matter of time..but I think we should understand the concept behind the word..patience pays off and non-violence...well "Gandhi" is commercialised and for all you know he might be turning in his grave!! But jokes apart, Gandhigiri is working..I've heard personal experiences in various situations. We sure could coin another word instead of Gandhigiri.

hey...initially even i didnt like it and cudnt accept people using it..but in due time i've realised that it doesn't matter; as long as the strength of Bapu's impregnable principles -Truth and Non-violence is implied... what do u say/

It's not a word I admit I have heard of, although nor is it one I can see myself using, even if I learnt how to ponounce it correctly.
