We just got some ice in Texas. We hardly ever get it here. Maybe once year? Anyway, there is no way I will drive in it. I'm just not used to driving in conditions like that. What about you? Will you drive in the snow or ice?

well living in wisconsin, if you don't drive in the snow and ice, you can pretty much stay in your house all winter. the plows are out 24/7 when it does snow, so the roads are usually drivable. my sons highscool has not had a snow day for 3 years now, and we get lots of snow.

I grew up in Michigan, again , no choice. You just have to NOT be an idiot in the snow... KNow how your brakes work (anti-locks or not, you treat them differently) be careful making turns, and keep a bit more distance between you and the cars in front of you.

I am very afraid of driving in snow, specially in icy situation. If I can I want to avoid driving in that condition.

I know. I totally agree. Unless I have to, I won't and I'll make my husband drive. He doesn't mind. and he offers to anyway.

Yes, I will. But I live in northern Indiana so I'm used to it! I don't really like it when there's ice. I won't go out unless I have to but snow doesn't bother me. I can understand not wanting to drive in it if you're not used to it. It's a lot different than driving in normal conditions!

I live in NY, so it's not like I have a choice. The main things to remember when driving in snow and ice are to slow down and to pump your brakes gently when coming to a stop--never stomp on them as it will just make you slide or spin out. I can't imagine snow and ice in Texas. I'll bet your town just about shut down, since you probably don't have plows and such to take care of the snow, right?

yes, the whole city has been pretty much shut down since Mon. Schools have been closed for 2 days now. They ran out of de-freezing stuff at the airport so all the flights were canceled. if someone from the north saw this they would laugh. To them it would look like nothing. It's just a real thin layer of ice.

I have never driven in the snow or ice, so I'm really afraid of it. We've had icy roads now for about a week that aren't clearing up because of freezing temperatures. I was going to try to drive in it just do it for the practice just in case I'd need it in the future, but I'm too afraid to drive in it. I can't bring myself to! My husband has driven in ice before so he knows what he's doing. I just let him drive in conditions like this!

Yes, I will drive it in. Its kind of hard to avoid it here in Michigan. Here we are used to driving in those types of conditions, but still there are those idiots that forget to how to drive in ice and snow and cause accidents. There are also the type of people in SUVs who think that the ice/snow will not affect their driving, just because of their type of vehicle, and end up getting into accidents.

Will drive if I have to. Have driven in snow plenty of times. Would only drive on icy roads if it was absolutely critical. In northern Ohio they use a lot of salt on the roads, so the roads to not stay slippery too long.

I know my friends in TX will not drive in it. I can't drive a car but I never climb on my bike when there's ice. Just be careful everyone.

I don't like to, but I live in Nebraska, so I have to do this periodically. I remember the last time I was in Texas during an ice storm....;Christmas 1998. We were driving down I-35 from Temple to Padre. About the time we hit San Antonio, it hit and we were in some minor ice....well at least to us it was minor. As a matter of fact, my all season radials and mini van were going about 50 MPH in the stuff without a problem. One of your finest decided that we should not be driving and stopped me. After I had a good laugh, I explained where we were from and that we were driving at a safe speed for the weather because we were used to driving in those conditions for months at a time. He let me go but warned me to be careful. We arrived in Padre about two hours later than scheduled. I don't like to drive in ice and snow, I will avoid it if possible, but I CAN drive in it and I DO drive in it when necessary. If I did not, I would have to sit in my house for three months or so each winter because it's like that here quite often, though this year has been pretty mild.....Thank gosh!!

I outside of Chicago and we get quite a bit of snow. You really don't have any choice but to drive in it. When I was younger it didn't bother me that much, but as I get older it seems that more and more people drive just crazy in the snow. So if I can avoid it do. I won't drive in a snow storm anymore. That is just nuts. I especially don't like the ice.

I'm horrible about driving in snow and ice. I get really anxious, so if I don't have to go out, I don't. If I do have to go out, I either find someone else whose more comfortable to drive, or I grit my teeth and drive as slowly and carefully as possible. I used to commute about 50 miles to college and 50 home and one day we got a foot of snow while I was taking a test. I left right after that and it literally took me 3 hours to get home!

I prefer to drive in the snow or ice. It actually makes it a whole lot more interesting than your usual drive. And the roads are usually clearer because everyone doesn't like to drive in the snow here! haha. I totally enjoy the fight between me, the car and the road when it's icey or even better if it's snowed! haha. Am I crazy??? Lol.. Everyone should experience driving in deep snow atleast once in their lives. Good question!

I drive in almost any condition, but I'm very used to handling cars in different situations. If you're not comfortable driving in a specific condition, don't. It's not worth the risk!

I will drive in the ice and snow but only if it is necessary. If I do not need to go out, then I will stay home and be safe. I had to drive in the snow this morning to work, though it had almost stopped. It is not too bad but it is the other drivers that worries me more than anything. People are always speeding like it is nothing.

We only get snow a couple of times each year normally. Ever since I could drive, we would find an empty car park adn slide our cars around for fun! I think it was a good idea as I can control my car a little better than most people in the snow now.

I'm from the north.I have no problem driving in the snow. Ice is different. I don't like to be on the roads if they have ice on them. It's to easy to slide, which is not fun.Plus, other drivers scare me at times when they drive like fools.

I am petrified of the snow. I will not drive in snow at all. We just had a snow/ice storm here and I was stuck in it on the way home. I was so scared and I wasn't even driving. I just kept praying that we would make it home safely. I'm a SAHM but when I was working I wouldn't drive to work if it was snowing. That was my day that I just called in. I'm too scared.

Nope! I'm really paranoid about driving in icy conditions, so I take public transportation or walk during bad weather. It makes me feel safer.
