why is it ok for a man to commit adultery than the woman?

I do not know anyone that thinks it is ok for the man to commit adultery. If my husband did i would divorce him so fast his head would spin, he could go live with the wench he cheated with. :P

It's a double standard left over from a more misogynistic era. Women were expected to be faithful to keep the lines of inheritance pure. Marriage began as a way to ensure a man was passing his lands and money on to his own offspring. So it was fine for a man to sleep around, but women needed to sleep with only their husband. Obviously we don't need that anymore, but the idea of women needing to be faithful while men don't have to be has held.

In my mind it is wrong whether it is man or wife doing this. Either way it is cheating it is morally wrong for both men and women. In all fairness men are wrong when they do this just as a woman is!

Because we still live in a male centred society. Men find all flimsy, filthy excuses and people believe them, sympathise with them. women are never given support by a man or woman.

well this is really not a good trend and i think law should be same for everybody to me it is women who had more physical desire but she had to hide it under society pressure which is absolutely unacceptable is not it?

man are man...they are not contented to one woman...by doing that they think that they are the one whose more powerful than us womans....

I don't know if their is any community or society out there in the world which allows men to commit adultery but I do know that adultery is a crime wether it is committed by men or women and the punishment should be the same for them too.

its never ok for anty one to commit adultery irrespective of their gender and age, to me its a sin and no matter how changed the times might be it will always remain a sin and immoral and unethical

This is because of the double standard we have in our society. So sad that it is okay for those men to commit adultery and women are not. However, in my own point of view its a BIG NO NO NO for men to commit adultery or any gender to be exact and specific...

IT'S NEVER OKAY TO COMMIT ADULTERY. Because of this saying, more and more men are thinking it's all okay. It's only all okay if you want to give up that wonderful person you have for a complete stranger. Where's the morals in people these days? Leaving someone you know for 5 years for someone you have barely been with! Womanize now while you're single, not when you've promised to make a commitment!
