My husband works until 11:00 pm, so it seemed like a good idea, it will help pay the bills. I am working as staff with adult developmentally delayed women. I have known some of these ladies in another venue for many years. It is not a hard job. I will have to learn to give insulin injections. People who do not like hugs and smiles, and celebrating life need not apply.

Wow that's wonderful. I'ts good that you already know some of the ladies. That makes it alot easier when starting out in a new place. I am out of work on a disability but am a Program Manager at a group home of women with Down's Syndrome. I love it, though it can be quite a challenge at times. Especially now that they are all in thier late 30's and 40's and all now have Alzhiemer's Disease. All in different stages thankfully. Insulin shots are nothing to learn really. I give them to myself daily. I love working with developmentally delayed people. I get such joy from helping them expereience life the way everyone else does. Glad you found a job you can enjoy, make friends and money at the same time.

Will you get to return to your position at any time, or are you permanently disabled? I am sure you miss the clients.

Double plusses for you! You will, get to go back, hopefully, and you are in it for relationships, not just money.

Well I'm hoping to go back eventually. I do miss them but we all go out to dinner twice a month. So I do get to see them, and I stop by their house for coffee and parties, etc.

You understood the point of this discussion completely. When the weather warms up, I will go for walks with some of the ladies to help their health, and you know, they smile more, and are more positive than most other people I know.

Only if those people you have to give the injections to have one. This person does not. I was pleased that I am able to do the accu-check, and it is easier than I thought.
