How often do you have family vacations?

I'm wondering how many family vacations you have in a year? The way things are going with us, we only have a family vacation once a year. It's really not much because we can't afford it. I think family vacations are essential for us to realize and appreciate each other. Spending time with each other strengthens the family.

My family hasn't been on a vacation in a couple of years. My husband and I have 4 children between us, ages 21, 18, 18, and 8. A couple of summer's ago, my Mother in law took my husband, myself and our 8 year old with her to visit family in New Jersey, it was so much fun, we got to take our youngest to Atlantic city, he got to see the boardwalk, and play at the arcades, we took him to Wildwood (an amusement park on the piers). He even got to watch his dad go sky diving (a first for all of us). When our older children were all younger my mother in law would take us on trips, once to Myrtle Beach and every other year to Gatlinburg over Thanksgiving weekend, since she's retired now, she can't afford these kind of trips and my husband and I can't either, so we just hang out at home. We are going to start going camping a couple times a year, that should be fun too. I agree with you that time together does strengthen family bonds. I wish we could spend more time together as a whole family, that gets hard when they grow up and start moving away, you don't realize it until they do move away.

It depends on how much money flows in each year but I would say 1 to 2 times. Sometimes we will go visite my mom and dad down in flordia for about a month at a time.

Twice a year. It is possible for entire family to go on vacation only when my son gets vacation holidays. He gets it twice,, midterm and after the annual examination.

Our family vacations have been the times where I think that we have made some of the best memories so I save all year in a special account for them. Mainly, we do one big one in August and supplement little trips camping (very low cost) for long weekends in the Spring and Fall.

We haven't had one in a while. I would like to take our kids to my home country.
