Birthweight of your baby

My baby weighed 7.8 pounds at birth. I believe that's in the big category. Some of my friends had baby's that were in the small sized category, weighing as small as 5 pounds. I guess my baby is big because I also gained a lot of weight when I was carrying him in my womb. Would you believe I gained 40 pounds during my pregnancy? Yes, it's really a lot of weight. But I'm glad I gained that much weight because it paid off in the end-- my baby is a healthy one. Ü

My son was 9lb 6oz when he was born and was 22 1/2 inches long. The weird thing is, is that i hardly looked pregnant. He stayed in a really up and down position the whole time, plus i'm a bit taller 5'9" so that may have been part of it. I didn't really look pregnant until the last couple months lol From my first contraction to the time i had him was only 11 1/2 hours, the pushing part was only 15 minutes tops. I hope my next one goes as easy lol... it'll probaly be really hard XP

My first was a little boy at 35 weeks and he was 6 pounds 11 ounces. He was small and still is small. My second was preemie (27 weeks) and was 2 pounds. He is going to be a year in 1 week and is still tiny only 10 pounds! I think it depends greatly on genetics. My husband and I are small and tall so I think that is where they get it from.

I would say that 7.8 is average. My daughter was a little on the small side-- she was 6.6 and was in the 10%. I gained 45 pounds and have lost 25 but still have some more weight to go.

My baby weighed 7.2 pounds, yes he's I think also in the big category too. This is the reason why I had to undergo a ceasarian section. The doctor said I had a small pelvic and my baby is big so no way out but c-section. I have also gained more than 20 pounds during the pregnancy. I weighed 118 pounds before the pregnancy and I ended up being 148 lbs. I just ate so much because I'm afraid that my baby would go hungry and would not get enough nutruition if I don't eat a lot. But yes, it's all worth it, just seeing my son healthy.

My daughter was 7lbs 3oz and my son was 9lbs 1oz. Everyone actually told me that my son was so little when I got him home and didn't beleive he was 9lbs, they thought he was about 5lbs. The nurse had to weigh him twice because they couldn't really see him being 9lbs. He honestly looked itty bitty. Maybe the weight was in his head? LOL! I looked back at my daughters baby pictures and he does look smaller, so I don't know. LOL! All I know now is that my son is a walking chunk! He is a big boy and nice and healthy! Chunkee babies are the best!

My baby weighed 4lbs. 6oz at 32 weeks. She's four-months old now and is already 11 lbs. Not bad for a preemie, huh? :)

DS was 7 pounds, 7 ounces. I think that's pretty average. He was a little slow to gain the first week, but has been great ever since. He's now 13 months, 25 pounds, 31 inches, and wears 18-24 month clothes.

Ok, i'm in Australia & they class babies in the 6-8lb category as being average sized - my daughter was 8lb 5oz & i gained about 45lb - i know gaining heaps of weight is normal for some women. As for whether the baby was 7.8lb coz of the weight you gained, i doubt it, only coz my sister in law put on a LOT of weigh (i mean a LOT - much more than my 20kg or 45lb) & she had a baby that was only 5lb. Maybe you were just destined to have a larger baby - going on the baby sizes that run in the family!

My son was 3 pounds 4.4 ounces, but he was almost 9 weeks early. He was/is healthy though. I gained 30 something pounds with him and didnt make it anywhere near full term so there is no telling how big I would have been if i had.

Both of kids were about 2.8 kg when they were born. Although I put on about 20 kg during my first pregnancy, my daughter came out a shade lighter than my son. I'd only put on about 15kg for my second pregnancy. Although they are in the small/average category, I carried both of them to full term, both of them were healthy, no complications of any sort :)

Ok, this may sound really bad, but I do not remember, nor do I remember the time they were born. (well, maybe the time of day, but not the exact time) I know they were all with in normal. But, I can tell you how they looked, the color of thier eyes, how they smelled, the position of thier hands, where they were wrinkled, or the funny hair on thier ears. I was so overwelmed during all four births, that I lost track of everything else except for that little baby.

7 1/2 lbs is the average weight of a newborn. My son was 7 lbs 13 oz and my daughter was 5 lbs 6 ozs. I gained 38 lbs with my son and 35 with my daughter. They are both very healthy. My son is very tall for his age and my daughter is still small (she's only 2 months though). I've always been petite though so I think that's where my daughter gets it. I don't think 40 lbs is too much to gain. And the only thing that matters is a healthy baby! :)
