Why it is so that there are catholics, buddhism, muslims, etc., and why dont we just have a single religions. People are sometimes are arguing about their beliefs in god/Gods. Is it because of their belief and that people are living in different places in the world?

I think we have many religions because we have different beliefs. We can't possibly have one religion and believe differently about things.

I agree people live in many places, have different thoughts and culture, so people build their own religion.

I believe you can answer that with teh answer to the question, why do we have so many people? There are so many people from some many different places and most of those people have been isolated from other kinds of people until recently.

Yes, I think it is because we live in different parts of the world. I just love history and social science (I guess it's called). And I think it is a real study of human nature to see how the different lands and faiths interact and react to one another. I believe, of course, in the utmost friendliness and respect. And also truly believe that all religions have deep value to them. I also believe, in the 'end' they will all come together. One reason being that God, of course can only be perfect, and therefore in the 'end', only the best possible 'end' result of all this (man and angels having 'free-will') is possible! We're all one family :))

P.S. - I also think this is part of the human lesson... (the interacting and reacting between different groups and faiths)

well, its mostly because people have different views on how religion should be. take christians for example...there are over 100 different denominations of it because one person disliked the view of one religion, so created another one. most of the religions differ so much from the way of worship and sometimes who they worship as well. if you can't decide on one way or one god to worship, its never going to work out.

I've always wondered this too. Personally I'm an Atheist and I think religion does nothing but start wars and cause strife. But yes, one religion would make things much easier on the world.

...atheism is also a faith and theory of life. Most people don't realize that many ways of dating the earth suggest a thousands years age and not the billions of years needed for the theory of evolution.. and also don't realize there are many scientists who feel science more closely supports, and requires intelligent design, one reason being, that mathematicians have found the odds of even one of the accidents randomly occurring which would bring life, is impossible.. something like one chance in ten to the one hunretht+ dgree, which is a ten with 100 or more zeroes after it (113 I believe is the exact #) - when they have figured anything with less than a chance of one in ten to the tenth degree (ten zeroes after it) of occurring, is virtually an impossibility.. Of course devotees to a faith always believe their's is the only proven truth..

Thanks for the comment,I dont like to question atheism but I had something in mind and like to share it with you, maybe the mathematician or scientist has'nt find yet the real truth as to how life begin and they would not ever find out about it. But dont you wonder how fragile life is, if we get just a little bit nearer to the sun or get a bit farther, that life as we know it would cease to evolve, excluding the special bacteria, Im talking more on human race to exist, maybe we have the technology now, but what if it happens some years way back. So what Im talking more is, scientist are thingking that given the same condition on earth on another solar system and another planet, life is possible to exist. From the non-living via a chemical reactions and climatic changes can spark a life. Maybe its a touch from God to begin life.

People often choose their religion so that it suits them, or they follow their parentsĀ“ religion or what is common in their country. Very few are interested in finding out the truth about what God Almighty wants them to do. If you are sincere to find out about the truth, keep on praying for help to learn what God wants you to believe, and he will for sure send someone to tell you His purpose. Lots of people are getting answers to their prayers, and you will find out what the true religion is if you really want to know.

The Devil is a master of deception. He tries to cloud men's thoughts and hearts so that he can lead them away from God. There are so many false religions because he has deceived so many people.

A belief in the supernatural and the desire to satisfy one's spiritual need is common in every man, hence the start of organized religions (though some modern men deny the existence of the supernatural) Religions were started in different parts of the world and people born in that country tend to believe the religion he was born into. Great religions propagate their faiths in other countries through missionary works, crusades and other ways gaining converts. People have different minds and ways of understanding the world and the supernatural. It is difficult to have one religion that will be embraced by every body sacrificing their own beliefs. The best men can do is to have a friendly religious dialogue to learn from each other and agree to disagree on many issues. At the end of the day, every can shake hands comfortably and find the least common denominator in their beliefs and become friends.

We,filipinos lived in a multi-cultural society meaning,,even if we are not yet born, there are so many beliefs that oue ancestor had,we cannot unify this belief or religious practce anymore because it is already a tradion,, its only in the religious practice anyway,, we still believe that there is only one God..that's enough to make all humankind unified =)

Religion r divided due to the availabity of the food from the primitive stage. u Might not be beliving it but its a real fact. Primitive man lives on Animals As well as green vegitation but soon due to lack of resources they have to sub divide into grops and need to live at far away places. where they might get only green Vegition or only animals hey have to survive their living so they feed on what ever they get and how they get? So this way man divided themself into small groups to survive and make new ruler & regulation to live which later on called as a religion. As per my opion f any one dis agree with this point then plz reply me and let me know why u dis agree?

As per my opion religins r nothig but a way to live ur life in ur way . As i belive religions r nothing but a way thaf a man surounding turn him. these religion came into exisance from the primitive stage. The people worship gods as hey don't know what it is? As soon as they understand they it their belief on god became less and less. and soon they stop to belive in it and start another. Religions r nothing but like a knowledge. different reliion teach us different things?

It would solve a lot of problems wouldnt it. i guess that people feel a need to find their own spiritual comfort zone and so religions fracture and split into many groups to serve that end. There is a quote that says that there is more than path to su big a mystery and and I guess people need to travel that path armed with the trappings of what faith best helps them find what they are looking for. It would be even better if organised religion went away and everyone became a religion of one person, that would stop the religious bullying and war.

There are so many religions because people do not like to agree and they set up their own. With respect to religion, the basis of all beliefs should be the Holy Bible and that should be followed. Many do not like to believe and follow. The Christian religion follows the doctrines or teachings in the Holy Bible and the ruler of the Christian religion is the God in the Holy Bible. The Catholic religion follows the doctrines or teachings in the Catechism laid down by the Roman Catholic Church heirarchy and the ruler is the Pope. The Islam religion follows the doctrines or teachings in the Koran and the ruler is Mohammed. The Mormons who belong to the Church of Jesus Christ in the Latter Day Saints follow the doctrines or teachings in the Book of Mormons and the ruler is John Smith (not too sure of name, pls correct if this is wrong but definitely the ruler is a human being). There can never be a single religion. But if you believe in the true God, pls study and follow the Holy Bible which is the Word of God and the truth.

Each individual on earth has his or her own appearance. Some of us is big, some smaller, some slim, some fat. Some have round face, some have pointed chins. Religious approaches of course would certainly exist just like people have different looks. More over, people on earth belong to different races. Each race has its own tradition and culture and religion. That is why we have so many religions. A free world is a world with many choices.
