I try to enjoy the countryside and nature as much as possible. I have a horse, so I go out riding often and watch the birds and the other animals. I like to sit and work on my computer and look out of the window at the same time. I'm lucky, I have a field behind my house and I can watch the birds in the hedge. When I travel I try to see as many new species of birds as possible. We went to New Jersey last year and our friend where we stayed has a big garden with bird feeders. I watched the squirrels and the birds and was really excited to see cardinals and mockingbirds for the first time. One of my favourite poems goes: What is this life, if full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. This is as relevant today as it was when it was written a couple of hundred years ago.

Oeillade, yes, the poem is one of my favourites too. It was actually written by WH Davies, in the 1920's. In my post # 25 I have provided a link. New Jersey is nice, but I love Upstate New York and the Catskills!

I enjoy nature everyday I can. In fact, I have a moose right outside my window eating my apple tree. I live in Alaska so you don't have to go very far to see the wonders of nature. I try to teach my kids to stop and look at the small things like how hard the ants work and how the mama spider carries her babies on her back. In the summer we go hiking to the glaciers and we camp as much as possible.

Yes it is indeed beautiful. Kathmandu is charming, but the drive from Kathmandu to Dhuli was something awesome. You are indeed blessed to be living in such a beautiful country.

Last May, I was lucky to go to Boracay for 4 days if I remember correctly. It was breathtaking... we spent a whole day in Puka Beach just laying on the sand and enjoying the waves crash into our feets... the best part of it was the sunset, it seemed to have taken forever to set. Too bad I wasn't with a boyfriend though, that would have been just perfect.

When I use to live on 85 acres of land, in the country, I left my house at daylight and took a walk in the fields. I would walk also in the woods just to see the squirrels. Sometimes, I would just sit in an open field waiting to see what animals would come around. I would stay until the sun started coming down and would watch the sky. The night time hours were even more breath taking. There's nothing more relaxing. I wouldn't change what I've seen or how it made me feel forever. I was so happy.

At least 2-3 times a week, I call it my me break. I go out and sit and read, or just sit and feed the animals. I don't think I could ever give it up.

the best things in life...look up at the stars and wonder at the expanse....the stresses of modern living can be countered by letting nature heal...in the office..get out into the open spaces...feet ache..walk bare foot on grass...eyes are tired...watch the sunset...yes, all too often we let ourselves be distracted from the most important things

Many days, luckily it came naturally for me. The experience gives lot of relief for individuals. One wont get distracted my all that electronic gadgets, it makes to feel closer to nature. No tension, no constraints in the middle of the beautiful nature makes us to forget everything for a while :)

Yes. When I was nine...I guess a child could easily be mystified by something immaculately marvelous than do adults. since adults have a lot of other unimportant things to focus on.

your thoughts tally with sir william wordsworth.what is this life if full of care..we have no time to stand and tare...yeas indeed modern life has become so demading that we have no time to devote to nature.infact grennery hasbeen decreasing with time.but what to do this is the rule of modern world.be materialistic to survive.if you want to look at nature, you will end up being a gardener..anyways i devote my holidays plating trees, plants ...not more than that.thanks

Suchetan, I agree with you... Be materialistic to survive. If you want to look at nature, you will end up being a gardener. However, the quote is from WH Davies, not Wordsworth. I have a link to the full text of the poem on my post # 25

I try to go hiking in the mountains for a couple of weeks every year. I love that time, being disconnected from work and modern life. Everybody should try to do that once in a while. Also, I make a point of actually walking my dogs at least twice every day - not just letting them out the door. That's a good time to enjoy the outdoors too.

Those people who have stopped appreciating nature are losing so much of their lives. Nature offers us a variety of things to give joy to our hearts each day. I am a nature lover, so even the emerging of the leaves from a seed I find wonderful.
