Do you write your grocery list?

Do you write your grocery list or do you just wing it? If you do write you own list, do you actualy stick to it and save money or would you save money if you had not written it in the first place? I have to say I like to write mine down (when I go) becuase I don't forget anything and I don't overspend. The times I did not write my list out, I forgot and had to go back and bought even more than I would have in the first place. Do you think it is a waste of time or a good rule of thumb to follow.

I do not write a grocery list exactly. I write what store has what on sale and what coupons I have to take to that store. I have to write it down because I don't like to have to drive and spend extra on gas because I forgot who had what on sale.

I always try to write out a grocery list. Otherwise, I would problably forget something that I wanted to buy. This does not mean, of course, that I will not end up buying something else when I get in the store.

I find because we write grocery lists out before going to the store that.. It truly does help us to save on money. I know then exactly what I am getting & what I need to buy.. Instead of going to the grocery store & not knowing what I may need for some of the recipes I may be making.. Would truly make one become very frustrated when they are having to cook that specific dish. I know that it also prevents me from having to go back a second time around for the things I may have forgotten. Especially if your making a dish that needs to have specific ingredients.. And you ended up forgetting to much of the ingredients for the recipe.. That would mean you'd have to take a second trip.. And that does end up causing an inconvenience for a large majority of the people out there.. I know it does for me personally! . . We usually do end up sticking to our grocery lists a large majority of the time. But we do go down every aisle just in-case we may have forgotten something. And if we did end up forgetting something.. And end up finding it on the shelves.. We usually end up picking it up.. And they never end up really being high priced items so it's not like it's going to make a big difference in our budget/grocery list for that trip to the grocery store.. But I do find by us creating a grocery list that we do save on money.. It makes you go directly for the things you may need that are on your grocery list.. Instead of just purchasing things you may want.. I know it has also helped us to resist the urge to spend more money on unwanted items.. I believe there may have been one or two times in my life where I had forgotten to write a grocery list out.. And it only ended up making my grocery shopping experience turn out absolutely terrible! I ended up throwing things in the cart that I didn't necessarily need. And then when I had to go & check out the bill ended up being much more then I had expected.. It honestly had set me back for two reasons.. Firstly because I didn't have a grocery list, & secondly I didn't have a budget.. After that experience I have never done this again.. In conclusion.. I find by making a grocery list it truly is more beneficial for me as the shopper. I am glad that I take the time out to write a grocery list as it.. Has helped me a lot when I've had to go grocery shopping.. It makes things much easier instead of turning the shopping experience in to an experience from hell.. I also take a calculator with me so I know exactly how much I had spent along the way to.. I believe writing out a grocery list is the smartest way to do things.. Because by not creating a grocery list it only causes more problems that are not needed! . . At least in my opinion.. Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

i used to write a grocery list before i go to the store. because lists really do help you save money as long as you stick to it. but to save more time, i now printed out a list that has ALL the items we need in the house. and the items are grouped by the aisles of our grocery store. so i won't forget anything and i can shop more conveniently.

i usually will stick a post it in the grocery storage of my kitchen.so whenever i needs a item i used to write it on the paper.i will be writing all the needed items on that and hence will take it to the stores.it helps me not to forgot any thing and also saves time.we can directly go the aile and pick the item and no need to go around the entire store.

Yes, taking a list will help you stay on track. You also need to have a budget set before you go (unless, of course, you have an over-abundance of money). Regardless, budgeting and making lists will save you money and I hear that most millionaires are pretty tight with their cash flow.

I do write a list, but I usually end up forgetting it. Even when I do have one, I always walk down all the aisles to see what specials are available. Since I live in such a small town, my grocery routine involves going to about three different stores: I get what I can from the grocery store, then go to the Dollar store for some other stuff, then go by the convenience store for their specials on cokes.

Thanks for the tip on the cokes; I had noticed that but when it came to buying them I would forget where I saw them cheaper.

I do not think writing down the grocery list saves me anything at all. I do it so that I get all that we need so that we don't have to take alot of trips back to the store every month.

Have always been told to make a list and you will spend less money. We do a list and since we price match we indicate the store. Sometimes there is a special we did not know of and take advantage of that instead. So the list is a guideline and helps you to save money too.

My list doesn't help us to save money. ha ha Cause we always get more than what is one the list. LOL We don't write the snacks or different dinner ideas down on the list. So, making a list only makes us remember what we definitely need to get.

Most of the time I just try to remember it in my head, but sometimes, if I have time, I actually write it down. Usually if there's something I really don't want to forget, I write it down so I don't forget though.

We generally write down our shopping lists, helps us to remember what we need, though we usually end up getting other things that we see, that haven't been included on the list - but that's okay, there's never anything unexpected, but a list helps us to stay mostly on track, and make sure we don't return home without that much needed jar of coffee or something similar :)

writing down your grocery list or any thing that you want to get is inded a good way to remember all the articles to be bought.as for me,my mother always writes down any article that gets finished at that very moment or anything that we need the moment it comes to her head.so we dont miss out any article while purchasing groceries.

I do write out a grocery list or I would forget half of the things I need to get. However, I will admit I always end up buying something not on the list. My family and I are all bad about impulse shopping.

Sometimes if i do have bulky grocery items, i write it down and do a list so that for sure I wont miss something to buy. I started putting the important ones first in the list then down to the least important items. There comes a time too when I just jotted down a list but forget to bring it with me in the grocery store :) but good thing, i can still remember the list ive wrote. Just stated that those list are my guidelines. And the usual stuffs I always bought are kept on my mind. Im used in buying it.

I really think that writing down ur groceries list is way much better than going to shop for groceries without it. With the what-to-buy-list, I stick to my budget and I don't forget what to buy. We are cravings for cheap stuff, and once we heard there's a discount or cut price or sales... we just go for it although sometimes it's really unnecessary stuffs to buy. In the end, when i have bought it, at home I'll be wondering what to do with it. Or sometimes, without the list... I will be buying the snacks... and when I got home... I'll be... "Damn..I have spent too much on snacks.." .
