So the end of March I will be auditioning for a football teams cheer squad. I gained a little bit of weight in the last 2 years I haven't danced or even moved like I use to. I was just looking for some weight loss tips and dance tips you can give me to get back in shape. I really only have a month and some days to prepare before the audition workshops. I would like to tone and lose at least 20lbs. Weights, running, food, beverages, excersize or anything else possible that you can help me with in getting back on track for these auditions. Thanks in advance!

Hi. I was a cheerleader way back in highschool and college. Here are some tips I'd gladly share with you. 1. Never, ever skip breakfast. 2. Drink lots, of water, it keeps you feel full. 3. Eat small, but frequent meals. 4. Practice your dance routines. Hope it helps. Good luck to your audition!

I never eat breakfast. Is there something in particular I should start eating? Fruit is okay in the AM? Thanks for the advice!

I would say just to dance and practice more often, and eat healthy. That would help you get back in shape. Good luck with your audition.

Thank you so much. I just get all paranoid when it comes to auditions. I use to audition for all types of squads years ago. I just got into work so much that dance seemed to drift away. But thank you so much. I will continue to eat healthy as well as excersize and practice. Thank you.

Everyone is different in what works for them, but as general advice I would suggest to continue practing your dance/cheerleading skills, and if possible find out the type of routines and dance steps the company/squad you're trying out for does so that you get a basic idea what you need to know. I think getting back in your dancing in and of itself will help you get back into shape and you should see a difference. In addition, you could try some conditioning - pilates or aerobic exercise... or maybe some light weight training (depending on what parts of your body you want to work on). This should also help with your dance technique as well. Eating healthy (and responsibly) should also be taken into consideration if you haven't done so already. Just take it all one day at a time. Set small but specific goals for yourself every day and try to work towards them. Have a plan and be passionate enough about it to always challenge yourself make it part of your daily routine and you're sure to get results. Don't get discouraged if you're not where you want to be straight away - it's a gradual process. Best of luck at your audition! I'm sure you'll do great. Believe in yourself! Take Heart!! Sky

Hi Im toya Are my suggestions too late first stay away from anything fattening - all sugars, cakes, crisps chocolate - then make yourself an exercise program with warm ups aerobic style exercise and stretching - keep to it every day - then practice some cheer and dance moves - also practice the cheers aswell as they might ask you to do a cheer on your own - practise jumps aswell and the standard cheer arm moves - also practice turns - check them out on the internet - theres some listed on about.com for free - just look up cheerleading....let me know whats happening write back id be really interested as i want to start a cheer team - its march 14 now - also try and see what theyre looking for in the auditions and try and learn the moves theyll make you do - also you might need to learn some tumbling and hold moves aswell for the acrobatics - where do you live in usa? - im in uk
