Do scents remind you of a particular time in your life?

We have songs that represent the soundtrack of our lives. But what about scents? Whenever I smell Clinique Happy it brings back memories of college because that was my perfume when I was still studying. Is there a scent that reminds you of your past experiences or people that became part of your lives?

Actually there have been several scientific studies on how smell affects the human brain, and it has been proven that that is one of the strongest senses we have. We associate smells with times in our lives that have affected us strongly, so it's no surprise that the scent takes you back.

This may sound funny but whenever I smell Tide Laundry Deteregent - it always reminds me of when I met my hubby - as that is the only detergent that his mother would use to wash his clothes so he always smelled mega fresh!! But then If I smell Polo Cologne - now that reminds me of those sweet, sensual times that we spent together years ago!!!

isn't it funny how a simple whiff of a detergent would transport a person back in time and bring back memories? i think it's amazing, really.

There is a kind of perfume, "Malizia" that was the perfume of my first girlfriend. Once I was in an elevator, two girls came in and when I went out of the elevator I felt very strange, because I never saw those girls, and yet it seemed to me that I knew them.... only some hours later I understood what happened to me: one of those girls had the "Malizia" perfume, this is the reason for that girl was so familiar to me, that perfume reminded me my first girlfriend and I felt very strange, Another scent that makes me "die" is the scent of the first flowers of Spring. These flowers remind me my far adolescence, when I lived in the country and I was always in the middle of flowers.

I believe so. The smell of greggs (pasty shop) always reminds me of my grandad who would come round with bags of pasties and it was the frist thing you could smell when he walked through the door. Unfortantly he has passed away but its a nice momemory of him in everyday life :)
