I believe crton leaves look very beautiful if the are watched closely. The one shown here has different shades of green, yellow and red colours in its leaves. I think that having crotons in your garden is a wonderful idea. How many of you think so? My garden consists of a few flowering plants but a large portion of it is occupied with plants that have beautiful leaves, so that they remain beautiful all through the seasons. Tell me about your garden.

I don't have crotons but I've wanted to get some to put in. I've seen them arranged in such beautiful patterns with reds and orange ones. I've seen the green as well but not as much in this area. Most seem to like the red, orange or yellow ones. Many subdivisions here in Florida have them arranged outside to decorate the area. They do come up with some excellent arrangments. Once it comes time for planting again I'm going to look into some.

sorry about that mistake. well, if you haven't seen crotons, just have a close look at the pictures I posted here, and keep looking for them in and around your surroundings.

Our garden is beautifully landscaped, 10 years ago. Now it looks like a jungle. A miniature one. We do not have grass but this yellow flowers that bloom only in the mornings. No idea what they're called. We have a willow tree and wrapped around it are ferns and we have a lot of orchids. I don't know what a croton plant is. Don't think we get it here :/

My husband loves crotons but it's hard to grow them where we are. We have a few fruit trees, small bushes and some flowers in our garden. But we haven't been spending a lot of time on it so it's not doing so well. Plus, we get a lot of pests and it has been hard to keep them away even with pesticides and all.

i love crotons!..you're right, they are all so beautiful, and no two are exactly ever alike! i have many gardens...one is full of all different kinds of roses, one has a ton of iris, one has a cascading wall of periwinkle, one garden is for my vegetables in the summer, and the other has bleeding hearts, and this year i hope to add some hostas to it..then there's my inside jungle...lol...i love surrounding myself with as many plants as possible!..they are all so beautiful and unique and they all give me great joy!

This time or year, our gardens are nothing, here in Kansas. I will admit to some nice shrubs, some of which have bright berries for the birds. Some of them keep their leaves all season long. Where I live, croton is a houseplant, and it is one I often let die. I hate to admit that. They are very beautiful, and I have a pot of them right now. If I can keep it til spring, it will be a good summer outdoor plant.

croton leaves - croton leaves. they sleep when the sunlight is gone.
I am glad that you care for plants. In my garden the most difficult season is summer and crotons survive in the summer, even without any water. And they grow pretty high too, if you need to have a hedgerow out of that. Here is a snap of my favourite croton taking a nap:)

We have a huge backyard but still looking for ideas how to beautify it. Winter ruins everything although some plants can grow inside the house, but sometimes cold temperature alone is enough to kill them. Worse, we have a young cat that can't resist jumping on the plant pots. We took the Xmas tree off quite early because she couldn't get off it many times. Maybe one day we can find a special room to keep the plants inside in winter.
