I made Chili tonite, I made a great big pot I do this in the winter because it's a good warm you up meal and I won't have to cook all weekend. I got to thinking do others make chili the same or different. I put red kidney beans, tomatoe sauce, chopped tomatoes, hamburger, chili sauce, can of rotel. What do you put in yours?

I bought a can of tomatoes that had chilis in it. I added this to a pound of ground beef that I had browned in a skillet and drained of fat. Then add a can of drained black beans and a small can of tomatoe sauce. I let it cook for about a half hour. Nummy.

Rotel, is chopped tomatoes with green chile peppers. I love it with velveta cheese and in chili and spagetti.

For me, it depends on what I have on hand. I sometimes use ground turkey, again, depending on what is on hand when I decide to cook. If I use beans it might be black beans, or pintos, or red beans. I will use the kind in a ranch sauce. Onions, and garlic, rotel if I have it, or a whole jar of salsa. I am big into spices, because of the depths of flavor and the health benefits. Red pepper, black pepper, cumin, tumeric, sometimes cloves. I will chop bell peppers, and banana peppers into it as well. Serve it with a big pan of cornbread. Use some of it with melted velveeta type cheese and serve with tortilla chips, serve it over a baked potato. This discussion makes me hungry. You are right, it saves on cooking times in the kitchen as well. Thanks for posting.

Excuse me for asking, but what is your recipe for chili? I sincerely would like to know. Perhaps you would be kind enough to share your recipe. Homemade food often taste better than things you buy in a can.

My kids like chilie. I make mine with red beans, cooked until almost done then sauteed onions and bell peppers add these to the beans. Then I add a can of Walmart brand tomatoes with chilies, a can of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce. Some times I add hamburger always chilie spice. I read somewhere that if you are trying to diet to lose weight that good spicy chile three times a week was benifical. I can't remember where I read it.

I like making big pots of chili and stew at this time of year too. I usually start with sauteeing an onion then adding canned tomatoes, chili powder, garlic salt, a couple different kinds of canned beans, red bell pepper, and usually some kind of meat substitute like TVP.

It's not chili unless your eyes sweat. I love my chili hot, hot, hot. It has to have good flavor, though. I use ground beef, although sometimes I'll use a lean stew meat, tomato paste, dark and light red kidney beans, diced red and green bell pepper, onion, garlic, chili powder, and for heat, about 4 or 5 habanero peppers. Talk about warming you up on a cold winter day!

My wife doesn't like hot either. I always have to make two pots of chili when I make it. I make hers significantly milder. I also use diced tomatoes for hers so the taste isn't so "tomatoey". Tomato sauce can be strong.

I use ground beef that is first cooked with chili powder, dash of salt & pepper, chopped onions and peppers. While that is cooking, I simmer red kidney beans along with a couple of cans of chili beans, chopped tomatoes, onions, peppers, a bit more chili powder. I simmer it all in one pot and serve with (or over) cornbread and cheddar cheese. Yum.
