i used to get hurt by loaning money to people who never paid it back for a variety of reasons. It cost me a couple of friendships. Then, on a good day, i came to this conclusion... how much is that friendship worth? If I gave them $5 and they cannot repay it and the friendship ends then it was only worth $5. So, now if they NEED it and i have it, i give it to them. If they can repay it, great, but if they cannot, i still have my friend who is worth more than any amount of money to me.

I have money and other things to people many times and I knew deep down in my heart i would never see it again. I think giving to someone is nice but when they always come back for more begins to be nothing but a nuisance. The more you give, the more they want and take it seems sometimes.

My philosophy has always been if you can afford to loose it then go ahead and lend it. The reason I say that is so many people borrow money without ever paying it back. I have heard people say the most bizarre things about boring money from another individual, the best one was well they can afford too.. It shouldn't matter if a person has extra money or is wealthy or what ever the circumstance, if you borrowed it you should repay, it isn't any of your business whether they can afford to give it to you or not. So that is why if someone asks me for money and I can afford to loose it then I give it to them. That's my 2 cents. Good luck to you here at mylot!
