Is having an automatic car starter worth the money?

Does anyone have a automatic car starter in their car? If so, does it work well and do you like it? I do not know anyone that has one and wonder if it has any other purpose other than starting the car in cold weather and not have to sit there and freeze at the same time. My car is old so I probably would not want one in this car but possibly my next new car I will consider it if others find it is good and worth the money.

We do not have an auto starter on our car either. It would be lovely to have one installed. There is nothing that makes either of us grumpier than having to go out in the freezing cold and starting a freezing car. I know many that have one and they love it. I am not sure what other purpose it has than to start the vehicle in cold weather. But, it is a nice feature.

From what people have mentioned on here, it would be great to have for winter and summer. I certainly wish that I had one now since it has been so cold out lately.

With the temps going to be in the single digits next week, ABSOLUTELY. Do you think I will be out scraping my windows, oh no. I will stand at my kitchen window and start the car, I'll leave the heaters & defrost turned to the on position and it will take care of itself. I'm not into cold weather, I am strictly a beach bunny. In the summer time I don't the automatic starter to cool the car off. Just in the winter. Worth every penny!

Glad to hear that the automatic starter is worth it for you and helps you avoid the cold and hot weather as much as possible. It sounds like a good investment for most people so far on here.

I'm afraid of an automatic car starter. I have one vehicle that is an autmatic and the other one is a clutch. I'm afraid to start my car up from inside the house as it may be in gear or something. I'm not sure how the automatic startes work though to really say if I would like it or not.

I can definitely see it being useful when the weather is bad and you do not want to sit in the car when it is cold and wait for it to be ready to drive. I know they are quite expensive and wonder how reliable they are or how safe they are to us and the car.

I'd love to have one so that I could warm up my car before I have to go. I have a toddler and it's hard to get it warmed up without taking him outside in the cold. It's ok if someone else is home, but when it's just me, it's really tough. The car starter would be a god-send.

I have 5 vehicles with autostart. It's a good feature. I use it start up and warm up my vehicle while I fix up my documents before heading out and since half of my vehicles are diesel powered it really helps to get them warmed up first because if you just start them up and head on out they'll tend to be very smoggy and might stall.

My sister just bought a car with an automatic car starter and she loves it. The car is already locked so there is no fear of someone car-jacking you. It's really nice for the Winter chill... now, she can climb into a warmed car and if you leave the defrost on, it's ready to roll!

I have never had one...but it sure would like to have one! I have frozen my butt one too many times and if I could start my car to warm it up before the kids and I had to get in to drive to school, I would be a happy person! I hate having to put on my jacket and shoes on just to get in the car to drive them to school. So, this would be a good thing for in the winter!!!! :)

I hate sitting on ice cubes! And, it takes a long time to warm the car! They should have heated seats or something for the winter!! LOL :DD

I don't have one, but a co-worker does and she LOVES it. It gets very hot here and she loves cranking her car from inside while she is finishing dressing for work. By the time she enters the car it is cool and she looks very refreshed when she comes to work. The same thing goes for the winter, it does get frigin here and on those days she loves leaving a warm house to enter a warm car. Unlike me I have to srive half way to work freezing and by the time I get to work the car is warmed up or cooled down. I think I could get adjusted to having one too.

It is definitely very nice to hear good things about the automatic car starters and sounds like I should get one when I get a new car. I certainly could use one right now since it is very cold here.

i have one on my car, my husband sells and installs all those things for the car so we can have our choice. the car starter was put in the for purpose of warming the car up and cooling it off in cold weather. i think it does help and i would install it on all of my cars. its convient and i use it when i'm just sitting in the car by myself waiting for my husband to come. he actually starts the car and i take my kids down, buckle them in and everything, then my husband comes down and we go. it makes things easier in my view because all you have to do is put the key in and go.

no i dont have one but i knew someone that did. they pushed the button one night and the car's engine blew up. it wasn't installed properly. if i would get one it would have to be installed by a known professional. they had their's installed by like circuit city or best buy. it's best to go to a place that sell and install them. there's a place in my town that i would trust it's Benchmark. i'll see if i can get the email address so you'll know what kind of place to look for and what i'm talking about. it's www.benchmarkaudio.com

I think they are great in colder climates. Being able to warm up your vehicle by pointing out the window, when it's raining or there is snow on the ground is price-less!

As soon as I buy a car I am going to have on installed. I spent a couple months working a the Future Shop (Subsidiary of Best Buy in Canada) and we were selling quite a good one before Christmas for $200ish installed. I caught a ride home one night with a guy who had one. He started it before we went out, and it was nice to get into a warm car. And as OldBuddy said on the first page, it would be great with the AC on in the summer too.

I have a remote starter and love it. In the Sumemr Time I have a cool car when I get in it. In the Winter Time I have a warm car with no snow on it. The only thing to the remote starter is that it shuts off after about 7 mins or so. Also you have to remember to keep the switches in the car on. For Winter you have to make sure the heat knob is always on or you get in a cold card. Same way with Summer and the Air Condiioner you think your getting into a cool car but if you did not turn the A?C switch to on then it will be so hot in the car.

A friend of mine has one and loves it. However he chewed up his cat in the engine and killed it. The cat had no idea he was about to start the car, from inside the house.

I don't have one but I wish I did. The weather here is really cold and it would be nice not to have to run out to the car to start it and then run back in and let it warm up and then run back out when I hope the car has run long enough. Perhaps if I had an attached garage it wouldn't be a big deal by my garage is a good distance from the house. It would be worth the money to me.

Yes ofcourse, having an automatic car starter is really worthy. I do not have on my car, but one of my friends has it installed in his car. Its operated by a remote and you can start your car when you are ten meters near to the car. The doors will automatically open and the engine gets started and the indicators start blinking. Its really worthy but one must not use it often.
