There's talk about people being able to live on the Moon in the future...if so would you go? Heck I just might, just the thought of it is out of this World! I heard the ladies are fine there too!! :-)

Well, according to the documentary that I watched last night on The Science Channel, we are shooting for a man on the moon in 2018. So far so good - the rockets and payload design have all been sketched out, the new spacesuits are already being tested, and the plan is set. We'll be using two rockets -- one for the lunar lander and one for the astronauts and their re-entry capsule. It's just easier to use two smaller rockets than one big gigantic one. The really funny thing is that they will be using most of the technology from the Apollo program. The rockets look like the Atlas series, and the astronauts will be doing re-entry in a capsule that looks a lot like the old ones, with a splashdown in the ocean, just like in the '60s and '70s. There are also scientists working on stretching the time that can be spent on the moon, by learning to get water from moon-rock. Once they can synthesize water, they can extract oxygen from it easily. So it looks like some heavy equipment will have to be designed, as well as temporary habitats that can be easily built by several team of astronauts. I think it will be some time, perhaps not until 2050 -- before any long-term moon habitation will be possible. Even then, it will only be select astronauts from teams all around the globe. But with so many countries trying for it - China being one and Russia being the other, we may end up with several communities. It is entirely possible that the Chinese or Russians may create a community faster, and may allow civilians to ride with them, as they are doing on the Space Station. Still, it would cost an arm and a leg, and I don't foresee serious public habitation until 2100 or later. Astronauts commonly get "home-sick" in a fashion where they feel the need to be closer to the Earth. Whatever reasons bystanding, I do not feel I can be happy on the moon due to the lack of mountains, water, etc. Albeit the lack of people may not be too big a problem for me.

I have not heard of anything like this but if this were to be a choice , I would not relocate . It would be too new to know what it would really be like there and although I would like to move out of the area I am in , I wouldn't want to move that far away lol .

Well, years ago they doubted we would even land on the moon! And I can see us now in the future living there! I'm too old to be considered going, but if I was younger, my personality, would entice me to be one of the first! I was the eldest of nine children, and I wasn't hesitant in taking the lead! The way that our society is progressing, I don't see us "taking the back seat"!
