India and Philippines have been the darlings of call centers. More call center jobs are offerred with tempting wages and benefits. More and more people are wanting to get a job in a call center company, but doesn't the emerging industry puts into waste what you have studied in college, killing your dreams of being a "real career person"?
Good pay has been equated to having a good career even if it doesnot answer the needs of humanity for the division in profession. (everyone seems to want to be a cal center representative because of the good pay with less skill requirements).. their field of expertise (usu, their courses in college) were set aside... so as their supposed career in such fields.
what can you say about this?

yes, it depends on the person, i have been working in IBM in travel account... never have i exchanged my dreams for a call center..
it may pay good and may mislead most working students not to pursue anymore their dreams, but its really up to the person..
