It might be popular, but could never be the best topic ever...

You login to your account, visited your friends' list, shop around some interesting discussions then end up with a longest running topic. Would you consider it the best because it has been constantly on the top ten or continue to shop, believing that as always; "the best is yet to come".

No I think discussions at the top 10 are there usually by luck (although most of it is good too), I had one of my discussions there for a day and it wasn't my best nor I thought it was particularly good, some of what i think of as my best are there at my profile with 3 to 10 responses.. Like anything in life, more popular or more known doesn't always mean better..

that is what I would agree with. it is necessarily a best topic only some good luck it has that it happens be on top.

it does not mean that because a topic got many responses it is the best topic. the quality of the topic is not dependent on the number of responses a discussion may get. because there are many good topics here that get less response while one liner questions get hundreds of replies. Therefore it does not follow that the greater the responses then the topic is the best.

sounds interesting feedback, that means popularity of the topic starter might be one reason huh. Thanks for a reply.

Best response depends on the content of the response given to the discussion. I let the responses build up before I choose. The responses that are particularly well written will be noted for later reference. Once I accumulate a few responses I then choose the best.

i don't really think that the "today's top discussions' interest me...hehe...as i couldn't relate to most of them usually. i don't really choose the discussions that i responded to based on their rating and responses...i will, prefer to respond to my friend's discussions or some other member's discussions that i think i can share my point of view ;D

I wouldn't say that. Personally none of my discussion are "the best" i don't even rate them myself. I also think nobody can have it either because alot of the members will appreciate good discussion but i doubt they'll be like it's the best, maybe there best but not in any other way. kudos ~Joey

I don't really think that how long a discussion is means that it's the best. I didn't think there really could be a best topic. Usually, if there are a lot of responses to a topic it is because many people are interested in it and have an opinion to state. My suggestion is to just post what you like and respond to what you like. I wouldn't worry about whether it is the "best" or in the top discussions of the day.
