appreciation for work

when at work, you do your best, but still don't get an appreciation from your superiors. what will be your thoughts and reactions, in such a situation?

i will feel bad but i will also think that might be i was not upto the mark and i will do better in such a way that they cannot stay from praising me next time

I am not that kind of a person that is always looking for a recognition at all. But, if I get it once in a blue moon, I don't think that is bad at all.
