Ratings? ... I'm Very Confused

I don't understand this rating thing? I don't seem to have any ratings at all, and I have replied to LOTS of discussions.
I have even initiated my own discussions. I have sometimes included photos, I reply to lots of my friends.
Why don't I get ratings? Why do I have nothing under "mY best Ratings"?
My earnings are very low.

Probably because you haven’t been here too long, and you haven’t received many ratings.
The stars are calculated on an algorithm myLot uses.
If you put your cursor above my star, (move it around the star until you see it) you’ll see a number out of 100, which is what the algorithm has figured my rating to be, based on responses, people rating my responses, and it’s a “reputation” on the site.
Earnings also relate to time and usage. The first day here I made 28 cents. It does take time.

You know, people keep saying that you can hover over the star and see the percentage, but I just tried it on yours, and I cannot. Does it only work on your own, perhaps?

Are you refering to the star? You will get one once you reach 100(the number in brackets) So don't worry too much you'll get there...
Best responses will show when somebody marks your response as the best in their Discussion.

If you are talking about the star, then you need 100 points before you get one. Yor almost half way there,don't give up. Believe it or not, I consider myself to be very active here and I average about 50 cents a day. Some days are better than others, some are worse. Try to concentrate on giving long quaility responses to other discussions and you will do just fine.

I went back into some of the discusions you replied too and I believe you are giving very good responses. I hope what I said didn't come out the wrong way. I didn't mean to if it did. I hope everything is okay with you and I will look forward to your return.

Good heavens no, nothing you said came out the wrong way. I guess I have to learn to moderate my responses.
Thanks for the other comment in another my lot reply too... the ratings one..
I am going to reply to your chat about your step son as as soon as I can, as there is something I want to tell you.. our situations are very similar.
I will be fine, after I get out of hospital. I am going in for a tummy tuck operation. Maybe that will be a good discussion starter later!!!

Okay, thanks. Most of my responses to my ratings questions have mentioned the 100 points.
Is that why some people give very brief replies, so they can get the number up to 100?
I think my replies have always been quite indepth.
Anyway, I am going into hospital for 4 days, so after that, I will get right into it.

First off do you mean best response?
To respond you need 3 or 4 or more lines of thought out response. About the topic! If a picture is used then it is of the topic also.
Ask a question if you can and check back. Hopeul those you respond to will use the plus sign when you respond as described. Hopefully you are using the plus sign on the discussions you respond to. Best response is iffy. Many choose too soon, some do it not at all. Your earning will increase as you better your technique and find friends that will respond to you and you to them and plus each other plenty.
Give this a go and see if it doesn't improve things.

yup, you will have a rating only after reaching the 100th posts. don't make one line responses or posts just to get to that mark. that is a NO-NO. you will suffer your star rating if you do that. just continue posting substantive long posts. You will be rewarded for it when you get your star. take care.

I peeked and you started 8 or 9 discussions all had more than one response so you got a rating for each of them the other 36 points you got from your responses. "My best responses" are given by the person who posted the discussion so unfortunately those people did not consider yours to be the best they received. Don't let it get you down it can take a long time until you get your first, it did with me. Good Luck

If you get the time to look for them, there are several discussions about maximizing your earnings on here. I learned recently that we are not to publicly point out users by name in the general forum. If you add me as friend, I will pm some names to you that you should look for to learn. It took me a while to get a feel for the best response thing. One discussion was very misleading because that person said "Always rate your first response as best, because it gets you your point and keeps the discussion alive." That is no reason to give "best response" Other members get annoyed when people automatically do this. I had someone express strong feelings to me along the same lines, but at the time I marked it, it so happened the first response best matched how I viewed the discussion. Keep on posting, and yes, the tummy tuck discussion will probably go over well here.

I need to also comment that I notice you gave a best response to a response 7 MINUTES after you opened your discussion. That is a first for me and most unfair how could you judge the responses you did not give anyone else time to answer.

I think you're talking about your star rating. If you are, then you have to wait till you get to a 100 in order to get a star. Once you get your star, then they will give you a rating of 1-10. And if you glide your mouse over your star, you will see your ratio. It's between 10-100. As for your best ratings, that's only something that other users can give you. So try to respond to discussions as best as you can, and maybe someone will give you a best rating. I hope that helps.

I have had so.... many responses to my query, and they are still coming in. I would love to reply to them personally, but it is just impossible.
I am getting ready to go into hospital. This will be last post until I can get back on the computer.
I have saved many of my replies, so I can do a personal response, hopefully in a few days time.

You need to respond as much as you can!And when you get 100 behind your name,then thats the time you can see rating which is a star...

goto photo and there is +/- sign which indicate postive and negative ,,,
i have offer u rate my pic and i done same to u,,
so tht both earn faster,,,

You will never see the ratings that people give you. What you will see when you get to 100 and get a star, is the value that mylot has set on those ratings. If your number is low, then you've gotten a lot of poor ratings, or people just haven't rated you. Think of the number in your star as your reputation. If it's low, then you can work to improve it.

ratings will show up after 100 postings and you would learning more about them as you reach there. But I don't think they mean much, for your earnings or even for the level of discussions you would have.

I'm assuming you are new. I've been here a week. Welcome. Okay my rating star began when I hit 100 posts. I began with a "3" and I think thats the norm. Just keep posting and you'll see better stuff when you hit 100. Just like at 500 you can copy and paste (I forgot that earlier and tried to paste something *L*). Good luck!
