skin or is there a way to naturally firm it up? Saw on msn that a woman lost over 128lbs or so and she looks great. Do you think she needed to get a tummy tuck and other things?

We have a friend who went through gastric bypass surgery and in the space of just over a year has lost about 130 lbs. She has had to have 2 additional surgeries to remove excess skin

That would depend on a few different things. One, how old is this person. Your skin has elasticity, the older you get, the less elasticity you have. Next, how fast did the person lose the weight. If you lose a lot real quick, then you may need the surgeries to look good. If you lose it gradually over time, with exercise and a balanced diet, you may not need any surgeries. There would be a problem with stretch marks, almost everyone I know that lost weight, over time or quickly, had stretch marks.

That tightening is so gross but after a huge amount of weight is lost, I think it's probably necessary. I would think a younger person would probably have an easier time up to a certain point but when you get close to 100 pounds, I think the tightening has to be done for everybody. I've wondered if insurance covers that surgery. God know, it's necessary but that doesn't mean it's covered.
