Quite A Scare! - Mylot Switches From Total Earnings to Monthly Earnings

United States
February 8, 2007 7:02pm CST
After coming home from family dinner and glancing at Mylot, I noticed that my total earnings had dropped from one hundred eighteen dollars to fifty eight dollars. I had quite a panic attack and rushed to my daily earnings tallies to make sure I still had my total payout amount.... And realized my earnings for this month added up to fifty eight dollars. What I've earned this month plus my carry-over from last month. And the panic faded. So to everyone who's pitching a fit and worrying over lost money - no money has been actually lost! Mylot seems to just be displaying out monthly earnings on our sidebars now. Not our total earnings. I repeat, no money has been lost. I hope this helps to calm people down.

Good for you that your earnings are all there. However that is not the case for me. I checked my previous months earnings and added it with the current month,it did not match my earnings that I saw earlier today. There is an unaacounted decrease of $.31. It upsets me because I try to respond to discussions in the most detailed and original way I can. I even provide links so readers can read further about the topic if they want to....It's just sad that myLot decreases earnigs without citing any reasons at all.

How many months have you been active here at Mylot, and have you made enough for a payout yet?

My first thought on reading this was "Wow, one hundred eighteen dollars!" Of course I know you spent a LOT more time on here than I do, and you make some very quality discussions. So of course you deserve it. =) I have seen a lot of people posting about a change in earnings. I was wondering what caused the whole thing. Personally my earnings took a large jump (from a little over ten dollars to over seventeen dollars) and it wasn't money I just made yesterday. I'm still not sure what happened, but at this point I'm just hoping it's not some kind of mistake, and I get to keep it. Not sure how showing monthly earnings instead of totals would cause this kind of jump though. Hope this does calm some people down though. I was trying to do the nice thing and respond to some discussions with no replies, and had to wade through several of the "where did my money go?" posts, none of which were as detailed or well-written as yours.

I looked at a discussion tonight that linked to a message from myLot about going through old discussions and deleting some that were abuse, then redistributing the money. Perhaps that is where the extra money for some of you guys came from.

You know, I just went back and double checked my earnings - my payout number did get higher. Last month's earnings for me were only forty two dollars, now it's up to fifty one. I didn't check those numbers closely, I just made sure they didn't *drop*. Huh. Maybe they reworked the algorithm again?

I guess they must have. I'm pretty happy with it if that's the case. I could definitely use the extra money.

That would definitely get someone's attention! I have not been that active since I work long hours. I do enjoy getting on here and checking out the discussions but I really don't think about the money so much. I am sure that after awhile I will be more serious as the amount grows. I have a friend who spends hours each day on this and she enjoys it and makes money. I enjoy reading your discussions, by the way. Thank you!

Oh wonderful, thank you! Well, that explains everything. No wonder my earnings went up the way they did!

mine is still showing my total from the start, but I just started 2 weeks ago, so maybe that is why. I show 18.72 as my earnings and that is what I have earned from the beginning.

That might be it. But I've seen a lot of posts with people freaking out because the number on the left hand sidebar suddenly dropped drastically. Mine did too, and I figured out it was just down to my monthly earnings. Since you haven't been here a month, that would be why yours didn't change. Or so I assume - you haven't been paid yet, so your carryover plus this months earnings are the same.

But if they warned us, and everyone read the warning, then we could not have these discussions about our ups and downs. We would have to think of something else.LOL I am too tired to think that much tonight.

I noticed that. But I'd see how you'd start to panic and think what the...where'd my money go. Mylot might want to post that somewhere so others don't freak out at first and worry.

I'm sure there will be an alert tonight. Mylot does always explain itself, but so many people are so quick to go crazy over every little thing that they rarely manage to get the alerts out beforehand.

That's true. I hadn't even noticed that the earnings were updated until I saw others posting about it.

Actually they did cut some of my money from last month. I had enough to cash out from last month, I log on now and they decreased it so I didn't make payout. Which sucks, I could have used that money now, instead I'm going to have to wait over a month to get it.

I read it. Thanks! It still sucks that they cut my earnings from last month. I went from like $11.00 to $9.99. Now I don't get paid from last month. Oh well!

Check the link that was posted above. In some instances, users did lose money, but there was *not* an across the board deduction. There is a switch in how the earnings are displayed.

Wow, I just read the link given about earning adjustment and they do seem to be trying real hard. I think removing bad and copied questions is right, but to penalize the people who answered is wrong, they answered in good faith, what they should do is let's say they paid everyone who answered .02 an answer and if there were 50 peole who answered, they should deduct $1 from the person who plagurized the question. This would definitely make it painful to copy other questions. I hope the myLot people see this. My the way, I was shocked, my earning were almost $5 today, I was really motivated to give up sleeping to answer more questions till I saw your questions. You burst my bubble. But it was till a good thread...thanks.

Yes they already switch it to monthly earnings I also noticed it when I open my computer this morning bur for me it is quite okey for we can see quicky our monthly earnings but what I dont like is I noticed that they deducted it by couple of dollars and I dont know why.

The deduction is due to mylot's earnings adjustments, which is rather common actually.

I seem to have gained 5 dollars though. My total monthly was 14 dollars, and for the past few weeks I haven't written anything, so I think maybe it's a glitch or something. I'm not quite sure, but I hope it stays the way it is. I'll double check my earnings.

Yeah. I've only made two cents all day. You can imaginehow frustrated I must be. It'll take me years to even get to $10.00 at this rate. I wonder What I've been doing wrong. I mean MY rating's increasing pretty well for the first day.
