yup it will really affect the speed of your pc. the high the capacity of ram the faster the speed is. so better to have a high capacity of ram.

Man what a question!!! It surely effects if ram is more than 256 mb.In one of my PC i use 1gb ram and it works as a bullet. So it would be effective if we increase the memory i.e ram. Have a nice Day !! Keep Posting

Yeah, it does.. It increases ur pc's processing speed.. The booting process takes less time than what it wud have been with 256MB RAM and also u can carry out a lot of operations simultaneosly much faster.. So, it does have an affect on ur speed...

No, todays there are so many software coming to make your computer better but these are heaviour for system so 256 MB RAM is not sufficient today. you must use either 512 MB or 1 GB of Ram.

if you are running windowsXP i would suggest using 1 gig of ram as windowsXP takes up about 350mb (on my machine at least), i have 1 gig in my computer and when my husband plays Oblivion, the task manager says about 800-850 mb is being used up so if you like to play games or do anything more other then turning the machine on i'd get another 512 stick at least.

it helps a lot coz there will be lesser hard disk activities due to swapfiles. nowadays, 1gb is recommended and 512mb is the bare minimum but for vista 2gb is the minimum for 64bit processors and 1gb for 32bit ones. =,(

more ram will increase your application speed, but overall speed is influenced by your bus speed! but to play the newer games you need a lot of amount of ram!!

Yes of course. The bigger the memory (RAM), the faster the PC processes applications, and also programs that you may want to run simultaneously.

Commone concept. Yes installing additional ram really improves speed but what about if each ram has a different fsb? Example: you have 3 ddr ram sticks each is 512mb. One is 333mhz, the other one is 400mhz and the other one is 533. What will happen. Automatically you can use all the ram and it'll read like 1,5gig of ram but all of them will step down speed to the speed of the lowest ram which is 333mhz. So in the end you have 1.5gig worth of slow processing 333mhz or ram. It's best for you to purchase all that have the same fsb.

yes. go get an upgrade. i have 512mb, i'm going for 1gb soon. more RAM makes your computer faster in loading applications and also in heavy-graphic dependent applications. just upgrade and it will be worth it.

not much difference can be felt under normal use, but when u use heavy applications then you 'll see the difference.

yeah ! RAM will increase the overall throughput of your system whether it is in browsing , processing and software threading ! yeah its good to increase your RAM if your needs are keep changing ! like if you want to work with animation and alike or programming side specially using oracle etc running servers !

hey let me make u sure of one thing...your computers speed increases propotionately with your RAM size...the more is the RAM's capacity more is your systems speed..

well it helps a lot. but the more programs or data install to your computer it will make your computer runs slowly. It is better to add another memory module. Make it 512MB or 1GB. Or if you can't afford to buy another memory try to lessen or delete unnecessary files or programs. This will make more faster your computer.

More RAm does not make you PC faster per se .... but what it will do is reduce the usage of the swap file. If there is no data being swapped in/out of RAM then more RAM will make no difference. If data is being swapped in/out of RAM then more RAM will reduce the amount swapped in/out and increase the time available for productive work making it APPEAR that the machine is working faster. Using a faster disk for the swap file will also do this.

you need as much ram as you use. If you need more than you have then the ram will be placed on the HDD and THEN the pc becomes much slower. If you want to play WoW on a three day running WinXP then you'll need 1 GB. I even have 1,5 GB and since I got that much I don't have any problems with a slowing HDD because of overusage.
