What would you do in this situation?

Under Shariah Law, she loses either way. Even if she isn't killed; she is stuck marrying the jerk. Since I haven't been placed in that situation it is hard to say. I think I would try to kill him as she did - at least that way he won't be around to rape anyone else and being killed by a woman is humiliating and will keep him from going to their version of "paradise/heaven".

I would just say that this is unfair to her.

I would do exactly what she did. No doubt about it. How can you respect yourself otherwise? And why would she want to marry the rapist? I'm so glad to live in the U.S.

Well..what a shocking news is that! My goodness I even cant extend my sympathy to that girl any how! Actully this is what called an Islamic Law! I'm not against of Islam or Muslims but I surely blame them for such laws! these are so mean...arent they? I even cant imagine my self in such situation, it is very tough and troublesome! i don't know is it true r not but it is totally pethatic if it is true.but telling u one thing that this might be wrong.may b investigations are going on to check weather she is saying right or wrong coz she might be saying wrong. anyways as a muslim i condemn this.

I am so thankful I love in the United States-- where all people have rights and freedoms.. Except when you lose them because you commit a crime. personally I would have killed the SOB also.. But then again that is an American woman speaking. Honestly a father or brother can kill the girl is she is raped? How sad-- God bless the US.. I'm so glad I'm an American. i rather being killed than being raped.. :) just that at time like that why not try to excape and find some other man or relatives to help u..rather than killing that man herself..

Queen, This is just one of the many reasons that no matter how much we may disagree with some of our politics, no matter how much we may disagree with our president, no matter how much we may disagree with our law makers, we still need to have gratitude to live in a country where this doesn't happen. I would ring George Bush and ask him to come and rescue me. He send in the marines, rescue the girl and kill all the barbarians. Only a week ago... I read on this site that the girls raped in India were also forced to marry their rapist. It might actually be the way that men get their woman in those countries. If she don't want to marry you... you rape her and she is then forced to marry you. Not such a silly idea.

I prefer to die that be raped. Law in Iran is so inhuman. Wish no women are living there. Hey! to all women don't ever think to visit or work in Iran.

In most cultures, men treat women horribly and get away with it because of that nation's culture and customs. Islam, unfortunately, is controlled by men who consider women worthless. Actually, if I am to read the Quran correctly, women do not have souls as men do. Is that rational? No. The answer to your question is, yes, to survive as a woman in a culture such as that you must allow men to take advantage of you, or you will be executed.

Well, I don't know what I would do, but I think if I knew I would be killed either way, I'd still rather not be raped. I think I'd try to flee the country before anyone found out what had happened.

This is a very tough situation for a girl. The people should raise against the government asking to bring up some law on this type of cases. Instead of killing that guy, the girl can make him handicapped or make him impotent if possible.
