I don't think all women should have to learn. Not all guys know how to and they probably don't feel as though they have to learn.

I think everyone, men and women, should at least know the basics of cooking. You never know when you may need to cook. In a bad storm restaurants and fast food places may be closed. There is no excuse IMO for people to not know the basics of cooking. Beyond the basics, if someone (man or woman) wants to learn more then they should. It should have nothing to do with whether or not they are a woman.

I agree with the couple of "everyone should" comments. Everyone should know basices. Things like rice, potatoes, pancakes, chicken (a couple ways), etc. Simple things if nothing else. Should anything happen to where the income level doesn't meet the takeout expense, what is a person going to do then?

not only women but men should also learn how to cook. It helps especially when your partner is not well you should be in a position to help each other. My husband takes up responsibilty of diet of children when he is back from business. I personally see that he gets the best of diet and he loves to eat what i prepare and is very generous in praising me for a good preperation. When it comes to coffee he is there to make and serve and a real good one.

Well, I guess that depends on what you mean by cooking. If you just mean the basics, yeah, you should. Everyone should know how because there will be times when you need to. But if you are talking about really fancy dishes, I don't see why anyone should have to if they don't want to. I do know how to cook a lot of more complicated dishes, but I don't do it on a regular basis. I just don't have the time to do it for an everynight meal or anything. I'm glad I do know how, though. That when I do have the time I can cook something extra nice. I will add, though, that my husband is the one that is more likely to be cooking if dinner consists of something other than something out of a box or something frozen, with veggies on the sides.

I don't think that anyone should have to learn to cook if they don't want to. Why should women in particular have to learn? The idea that it is women who stay at home all day, and who prepare the meals is vaguely outdated; many men are doing it nowadays.

I dont think it is a must, but it is a plus factor. It feels great to cook for your family. Some do this as a hobby and some do this for business and it is a really good business, i may say.
