High blood pressure is not a disease, it is an arbitrarily defined disorder to which both environmental and genetic factors contribute. Another definition accepted is "the blood pressure above which the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks in terms of morbidity and mortality". Blood pressure 140/90 is considered high blood pressure, and anything between that two values is considered high-normal.

the normal blood pressure is around 120/80....little above it is ok...way above it can be called hypertension or high blood pressure....the cause can be due to deposition of fat in arteries or as result of side effects of medicines..many reasons...

It depends your age as well, when you are young 120/70 is normal but when you are in your fifties and older 130/80 is acceptable
