Do you like to live in a big city?

I lived in big cities all my life. I always enjoyed it, but lately I have been feeling that I would like to be in a more calm place. Don't get me wrong I don't want to stray too far , but my perfect living arrangement would be living in a place far enough from the city that could have some quiet but close enough that I could go there whenever I wanted . WHat about you?

Middle of nowhere for me definitely..I always feel so pent in, in the city. With buildings constantly around me..all the people..*shudders* I dislike large amounts of people. I like visiting cities, because those are the times I CHOOSE to be around people. But to be around them twenty four seven? Whether I wanted them or not? Right next door..only a few feet away? No thanks. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate humanity. I'm just wary of it as a whole and I relax best someplace where I feel the most safe. Surrounded my plant and animal life. It's just when I feel most at peace. I can actually get to know open spaces well..and it somewhat reassures my paranoid little brain that I can navigate through brambles and acres of wood better than someone unaccustomed to it. I'm sort of a workaholic as well..and my work happens to be writing more often than not and the quiet -- though not silence -- is very handy for this, not to mention no one really around to distract me from it..plus there's the other kind of work which is actually very relaxing..like caring for animals and the garden, and keeping one's property at least somewhat well kept. Plus I need somewhere I can run..I don't want side walks..I want nice earth directly under my feet. But you know..lol, that's me.

I can certainly understand that. Like you, it's not that I don't like humanity, but I certainly prefer to be in a quieter place. For me the big city should be taken in small doses at a time hehe They do have some positive things and that's why I would like to live somewhere in between.

I think prefer living in the big cities because everything I need is out there. Being single, I enjoy going out alone to big malls and to see the normal stuff that is out there. I think I would be bored in a small city where it would take a long time to get to the malls and other places I'm used to.

I absolutely prefer a small town. When I was young I did live in a small town, in fact I lived on the far northwest of the small town. Cut to 30 years later, I ma living in virtually the same place but now I am in the center of town. I hate it. I know this is my home and I love it but it has just gotten too big for me. there are way too many people and too many cars, and too much noise. I want to move to a smaller town but I really love the weather here and am afraid I won't be able to find a place with the same weather. Plus my family is here and I would really miss them if I moved away.
